The 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area IT Application System Development Competition, organized by the Macau International Science and Technology Industry Development Association of Macau and co-organized by Bank of China Macau Branch, the Greater Bay Area Research Center of the University of Macau, and the Macau Innovation and Investment Association, has been successfully completed. The competition aims to broaden the global scientific and technological horizons of young people in colleges and universities in the Bay Area and promote the cultivation of IT engineering application technical talents and innovative and entrepreneurial talents.
The Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau achieved good results, and the two participating teams won the winning awards respectively. The winning projects are the 'Glue' APP project, whose members are Jiaxu Wang, Ruochen Yang, Guangyuan Zheng, and Zejun Zhou, with Assistant professor Chia-Wei Chu as the instructor; 'Yuan Plan' Internet + Learning Sharing Pinghe, whose project members are Jiajing Kang, Yaokang Wang, and Yaxuan Li, Assistant professor Chia-Wei Chu and Hoi Io Kong serve as instructors. The winning team will represent Macau in the Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Finals.
The award presentation ceremony was held at 3 p.m. on 16 September at the "OVO Macau Maker Space", attended by Peng Xiangyang, Director of the Economic Department of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government, Chou Weng Chan, Director of the Technology Application and Support Division of the Economic and Technological Affairs Bureau, Kuong Leong Lei, Director of the Economic, Technological and Development Division of the Macau Post and Telecommunications Bureau, Sio Kai Ip, President of the Macau Innovation and Investment Association, Professor Kin Sun Chan, Coordinator of the Master of Public Administration Programme of the Department of Government and Public Administration of the University of Macau, Hon Ying Leung, Senior Vice President of Information Technology of Wynn Macau and Wynn Palace, and Choi Hong Le, President of the Macau International Science and Technology Industry Development Association.
Since its inception in 2016, the "Greater Bay Area IT Application System Development Competition" has successfully exhibited its works at the China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Fair, attracting and serving more than 4,000 teachers and students from more than 60 universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area and surrounding regions. The Macau branch of the 2022 competition is open to Macau universities to solicit entries, with three winners and finalists. After the earlier round of selection, the professional judges selected 3 projects from 12 entries to win the Honorable Mention Award and 3 projects to win the Renwei Award.
Jiaxu Wang, a fourth-year student of the Bachelor of Science in Intelligent Technology and Services, said that through the competition, he had the opportunity to communicate with other participants, broaden his horizons and enhance his confidence in joining the technology industry. It is hoped that with the care of all parties, their projects will have real opportunities for transformation and implementation in the future.
Ka Ching Kang, a 2nd year student of the Bachelor of Intelligent Technology and Services, expressed her gratitude to the organizers and judges for providing them with a platform to showcase their creativity. Such achievements are inseparable from the help and support of City University of Macau's teachers, and they will continue to work hard in the future to make their own contributions to the construction of scientific and technological innovation in the Greater Bay Area.
