The Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau aims to cooperate with the country's important strategy of developing the Greater Bay Area, serve the development policies of the Macau Special Administrative Region, promote the development of smart industries in Macau and the Greater Bay Area, cultivate leading talents in data science and artificial intelligence, lead first-class data science and information technology research, and build an important research and teaching base with a leading position in education, scientific research, application, and industrial incubation in the field of data science and artificial intelligence. The goal is to achieve a three-in-one teaching model of ‘talent cultivation, scientific and technological research and development, and knowledge dissemination’, strengthen the accumulation of Macau's scientific and technological strength, and contribute to the diversification of Macau's industries.
In terms of talent training, the college insists on referring to the data science and information technology training system of world-class universities, optimizing the curriculum, and improving the systematicness and professionalism of talent training. In addition, through the design of a curriculum system based on interdisciplinary subjects, we focus on cultivating compound talents with theoretical and professional application backgrounds in data science and artificial intelligence, and stimulate students' innovative spirit and teamwork awareness, so that students can not only acquire a broader knowledge base, but also improve their comprehensive quality. The faculty offers doctoral, master's and bachelor's degree programmes.
With the support of the university and social forces, the Faculty of Data Science strives to build a high-level professional teaching team. Under the expert leadership of internationally renowned professors, scientific planning and talent introduction mechanisms are provided for the development direction of the college. At present, the teaching and research teams of the Faculty of Data Science all have doctoral degrees from famous universities at home and abroad, and will continue to introduce outstanding talents with international academic reputation.
The Faculty of Data Science actively cooperates with domestic and foreign research institutes, industries and local governments in personnel exchange and training, technology development, etc., especially in the transfer and industrialization of R&D technologies in the fields of artificial intelligence combined with smart cities, medical care, health, elderly care, blockchain, network security and privacy protection.
