Technological innovation with big data as the application background has brought new directions and opportunities to fields such as data science, smart living, smart cities, smart societies, and management science. The massive amounts of data that are constantly being accumulated are reshaping the world and profoundly changing human society. In response to the booming development of big data, the faculty was formally established. The Faculty of Data Science aims to focus on the international forefront of science and technology, innovative development, and the important strategy of giving full play to the advantages of disciplines in universities. For a better future of Faculty of Data Science, we have developed a new set of Computer Science programme, including Artificial intelligence, Information security and Data science, offering bachelor's, master’s, and doctoral degrees. This will be a strong Faculty of Data Science with unique courses not found in Macau, which will contribute to the future development of Macau.
The Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau aims to support the country's important strategy of developing the Greater Bay Area, serve the development policies of the Macau Special Administrative Region, promote the development of smart industries in Macau and the Greater Bay Area, cultivate leading talents in data science and information technology , leading first-class data science and information technology research, and building an important research and teaching base that leads in education, research, application, and industry incubation in the field of data science and information technology. It aims to achieve a teaching model that integrates talent cultivation, scientific and technological research and development, and knowledge dissemination, strengthens the accumulation of Macao's scientific and technological strength, and contribute to the diversification of Macao's industries.
In terms of talent cultivation, the faculty adheres to the training system of data science and information technology in world-class universities, optimizes the programs, and improves the systematic and professional training of talent. In addition, through a program system design based on interdisciplinary studies, it focuses on cultivating complex talented individuals with a background in the theory and professional application of data science and information technology. The program is designed to inspire students' innovative spirit and sense of teamwork, so that in addition to gaining a broader knowledge base, their overall quality is also comprehensively improved. The faculty offers doctoral, master's and bachelor's degree programs.

Currently, the teaching and research teams of the faculty all have doctoral degrees from prestigious universities from China and abroad and will continue to attract outstanding talents with international academic reputations.
The Faculty of Data Science actively cooperates with domestic and foreign research institutes, industries and local governments in personnel exchange and training, technology development, etc. It is also a partner base of the Hengqin New Area Postdoctoral Research Station. The faculty is f transferring and industrializing technologies developed in the areas of smart cities, tourism, business, manufacturing, medical, health, elderly care, finance, blockchain, artificial intelligence, network security and privacy protection, marine and other industries.
