Hengqin is a national-level new area, China (Guangdong) Pilot Free Trade Zone, Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Cooperation Demonstration Zone, and an important node of 'The Belt and Road Portal' and an important area of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The Hengqin New Area Postdoctoral Research Station was approved for establishment by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in October 2015, and in March 2017 was approved by the National Postdoctoral Management Committee Office to independently recruit postdoctoral candidates.
 

Macau and Hengqin are intertwined by mountains and water, separated by only a river, and with 24-hour border crossings. It is very convenient to travel between the two places. In order to promote exchanges and cooperation between Macau and Hengqin in the fields of science and technology education, knowledge transfer, and the integration of industry, academia and research,  City University of Macau and the Hengqin New Area Postdoctoral Research Workstation have jointly established the “Postdoctoral Partner Base” to through complementary advantages and resource sharing, Both will jointly carry out research on major national and regional projects, postdoctoral talent training, knowledge innovation and transformation, cross-border laboratory construction, and other work, promoting intensive development in science and technology, education, culture, and other fields in the two places.
