Associate Dean Zhu Tianqing Attends the Unveiling Ceremony of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Joint Laboratory for Secure Development of Generative Artificial Intelligence



The unveiling ceremony of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Joint Laboratory for Secure Development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (hereinafter referred to as the "Joint Laboratory") was held in Shenzhen on September 15. Representatives from the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), relevant units of Guangdong Province and some municipalities, the Digital Policy Office of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, and the Personal Data Protection Bureau of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region attended the ceremony. Fang Binxing, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Director of the Expert Committee of the Joint Laboratory, attended and delivered a speech. The laboratory will promote industrial implementation and strengthen security supervision through various means, such as formulating industry standards for secure development, supporting security assessments for model filings, and hosting releases of cutting-edge technological achievements, thereby contributing to the Greater Bay Area's goal of becoming a hub for intelligent technology innovation and a pioneer in intelligent security governance.

The laboratory is guided by the National Computer Network Emergency Response Technical Team/Coordination Center of China (CNCERT), jointly led by the Cyberspace Affairs Commission of Guangdong Provincial Committee and the Guangdong Branch of CNCERT, and co-established by relevant universities, research institutions, and enterprises in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. As a participating university from Macao, City University of Macau was represented by Associate Dean Zhu Tianqing of the Faculty of Data Science at the unveiling ceremony. The successful participation in the laboratory’s establishment marks a new breakthrough for City University of Macau in the field of generative artificial intelligence and information security. The unveiling of the Joint Laboratory not only reflects the university’s forward-looking layout and research capabilities in generative AI security but also demonstrates its firm commitment to serving national strategies and integrating into the overall development of the Greater Bay Area.

Professor Zhu Tianqing, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, stated that City University of Macau will continue to leverage data science to actively promote the deep integration of industry, academia, and research, strengthen disciplinary advantages in AI security and information security, and contribute to Macao’s goal of becoming a highland for artificial intelligence innovation. In the future, the university will collaborate with more institutions to apply for the establishment of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao joint laboratories, further enhancing its regional technological competitiveness and social influence.

Other participants at the unveiling ceremony included representatives from universities and research institutions such as Sun Yat-sen University, South China Normal University, Guangzhou University, Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, and the Fifth Electronics Research Institute of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology; enterprises such as Tencent, OPPO, XPeng, Sangfor, CVTE, YunDie, Yuntian Lifei, Yuanxiang, Shenyi, and Luxi; and nearly a hundred representatives from mainstream media outlets, including Southern Media Group and Yangcheng Evening News Group.
