City University of Macau students shortlisted for Huawei Global ICT Competition-Macau finals, challenging theoretical knowledge and practical abilities



The sixth 'Huawei Global ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Competition' jointly sponsored by Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd., Macau Science and Technology Association, and Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center recently held the Macau preliminary round. 15 students from City University of Macau succeeded Advance and will compete in the Macau finals next month. 

 

The 'Huawei Global ICT Competition' is an ICT talent competitive exchange event created by Huawei for college students around the world. It aims to promote the sound and healthy development of the ICT talent ecosystem, support the integration of industry and education, improve students' ICT knowledge level, and strengthen students' practice. Hands-on ability and the ability to innovate and create using new technologies and new platforms. In March 2021, the Huawei ICT Competition was included in the list of competition items in the 2020 National College Student Competition Ranking List for the first time, becoming one of the high-gold and valuable competition items recognized by the China Higher Education Association. 

 

This competition is divided into four stages: Macau preliminary round, Macau finals, regional finals and global finals. It consists of two tracks, namely the network track and the cloud track, which focus on examining students’ ICT theoretical knowledge reserves, computer practical abilities and team collaboration abilities. A total of 472 contestants participated in the preliminary stage. The competition was mainly based on theoretical examinations and was conducted online. In the end, 72 contestants stood out and entered the finals, including 15 City University students. They are undergraduates Chenxiao Ma and Yuxin Jin from the Faculty of Data Science. Songhao Zhang, Haowei Wu, Taozhi Chen, Yunsong Fang, Ziyu Liu, Yunzhi Liu, Qihe Zhou, Jiamin Xie, Jiaxu Wang, Yuwen Xiang, master students Jiahong Li and Shengkun Li from the Faculty of Data Science, and master student Yu He from the Faculty of Business. 

 

The Macau finals will be held on December 11 at the Macau Science Center and will be conducted in the form of a combination of theoretical examinations and experimental examinations.
