In order to promote the development of the data industry, a cross-border data seminar sponsored by The Economic and Technological Development Bureau and hosted by City University of Macau was held at 3:00 pm on March 18, 2022, in the exhibition hall of the Cultural Center of City University of Macau, Taipa Campus. The meeting invited China Binxing Fang, academician of the Academy of Engineering, as well as mainland data industry experts, as well as representatives from a number of tertiary institutions, gave special speeches to exchange and discuss cross-border data issues with the Macau industry and industry associations. 

The topic of this seminar is the compliant and secure flow and application of cross-border data. In his speech, Director of the Economic and Technological Bureau Kin Ip Tai said that the policy report of the SAR government proposed to accelerate the technology industry and promote the development of the digital economy, among which industry digitization and digital industrialization are the future economies. An important support for development, its core element "data" is a decisive and important production factor in industrial competition in various countries. Macau has the advantages of the "one country, two systems" system. We will use the China-Portuguese platform to explore ways to promote Macao as a cross-border data circulation node serving mainland data and international data, especially Portuguese-speaking countries, and promote the growth of Macau's data industry. 

In his speech, President Jun Liu expressed his sincere gratitude to the cooperative units. He said that cross-border data flow has received great attention in contemporary times and promoted technological change and economic progress. The country has also promulgated many regulations in this field. In order to promote the high-tech development of Macau and the Greater Bay Area and cultivate data science and information technology talents, City University of Macau offers courses in the fields of data science, artificial intelligence and information security, with a comprehensive cross-section of arts, sciences and law, and has conducted courses with many well-known mainland enterprises In-depth cooperation, jointly building joint laboratories, and conducting cooperative research around cross-border data, data security, blockchain, cryptography, etc. This seminar brings together well-known experts and scholars in the industry to fully discuss many cutting-edge issues of cross-border data, provide advice and suggestions for the diversification of Macau's industries and the development of the Hengqin Guangdong-Macau Deep Cooperation Zone and the Greater Bay Area, and jointly develop ambitious plans, which is of great significance. 

The seminar was held in a combination of online and offline formats. The co-organizers include: Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, China Academy of Information and Communications Technology, University of Macau, Macau University of Science and Technology, and Macau Science and Technology Association. Special guest speakers include Fang Binxing, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Hongwei Xu, vice director of the Science and Technology Standards Division of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology, Zhiming Cai, professor of City University of Macau, and Luo Luo, vice director of the Institute of Industrial Internet and IoT of the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology. Song Luo, researcher and doctoral supervisor at the Computer Network Information Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wei Wang, a visiting professor at the Macau University of Science and Technology, Zhihong Yan, a representative of the Macau Science and Technology Association and a professor at the University of Macau, and Yun Ma, director of the Data Management Department of Huawei.
