The selection competition for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macau division of the 2024 China College Students' Mechanical Engineering Innovation and Creativity Competition was successfully held on August 17, 2024, at Shenzhen University. More than 200 teachers and students from 19 universities across the country participated on-site. 

 

In the end, a team consisting of three undergraduate students from the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau, Ruifan Zhao, Chuntian Zhan, and Tianqi Huang, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Hoi Io Kong, the undergraduate programme coordinator, won the second prize in this competition. 

 

This competition consists of two parts: defense and practical demonstration. The defense part tests the participating teams' analytical, logical, innovative, and expressive abilities in the competition tasks; The practical stage will examine the participating teams' ability to code the assembly process of parts before the competition, their ability to adapt on site, and their demonstration of operational strategies. 

 

The competition aims to build a platform for the exchange and practical demonstration of intelligent precision assembly technology, cultivate innovative and practical abilities of intelligent assembly talents, stimulate the interest and potential of college students in mechanical engineering and related interdisciplinary fields, and help China achieve a leap from a manufacturing power to a manufacturing powerhouse.

I am delighted to have the opportunity to participate in this CTF competition. During the competition, I met contestants from different companies and Universities and benefited greatly. Through communication with them, I not only improved my technical knowledge but also expanded my social network, which will be of great help to my future studies and work. The CTF competition is not only a platform to showcase technology, but also an excellent opportunity for learning and growth. Looking forward to seeing you again in the next competition. 

 

Faculty of Data Science student, Chuntian Zhan: 

I am very honored to have won the second prize in the "Precision Parts Processing Program Design Competition". This honor is not only a recognition of my personal efforts, but also a recognition of our team's spirit of cooperation. During the competition, I learned a lot of valuable knowledge and skills, which will have a profound impact on my future learning and work. 

 

I would like to express my special thanks to my team members. Without their support and assistance, I would not have achieved today's results. This competition not only showcased my professional skills but also made me deeply appreciate the importance of teamwork and innovative spirit. During the competition, we overcame many technical difficulties and ultimately achieved satisfactory results. 

 

This award is not only an endpoint, but also a new starting point. I will continue to work hard, constantly improve my professional level, and prepare myself for future challenges. I hope to achieve even better results in my future studies and work.

This is the best reward for our team's hard work and sweat.
