Congratulations! Our students have won the first prize in the National AIOT Finals of the Global Campus Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Elite Competition

The National Finals of the 5th Global Campus Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Elite Competition, titled "Smart Youth · Computing the Future" in 2023, will be held on December 10th at the Jiangning Campus of Hohai University.

Under the guidance of Associate Professor Wenjian Liu, both teams from the Faculty of Data Science at the City University of Macau achieved excellent results by winning the first prize in the "National Finals" and the first prize in the "Elite II Division Selection Competition · Provincial Level". The members of the City University of Macau Internet of Things Experimental Team are Jiahao Xu, Ronkang Zhu, and Yuxuan Ma; The team members of the City University of Macau Internet of Things Laboratory are Yao Anzhou, Hu Zhenyu, and Yang Fengyuan.

The AIOT Application Competition is a technology innovation competition aimed at students from various majors in universities around the world. Participants must apply AIOT technology and explore innovative solutions for specific implementation scenarios, such as application exploration in industries such as industry, agriculture, energy, healthcare, smart cities, transportation, safety, and daily life. Enhance the students' comprehensive application ability in computer science, automation technology, Internet of Things, intelligent control, intelligent computing and other majors, and improve the students' innovative thinking in solving practical problems, grasping the hot issues of social research, grasping the foresight and progressiveness of related technologies, etc.

Award acceptance speech:

Anzhou Yao: Participating in the 5th Global Campus Artificial Intelligence Algorithm Elite Competition is a unique experience in my academic career. This competition has given me profound thinking and growth, and for me, it is a valuable opportunity. During this process, I was fortunate enough to meet a group of like-minded team members, and we faced various challenges together. It is through such challenges that I have gained a deeper understanding of artificial intelligence algorithms and improved my problem-solving abilities. Teamwork is one of the most valuable gains for me in this experience. We learned from each other, supported each other, and completed each stage of the competition through joint efforts. In my opinion, this spirit of cooperation is even more important than the competition itself, because it not only allows us to achieve good results but also enables us to progress together in cooperation.

Zhenyu Hu: It is an honor to enter the finals of this competition. Thank you for providing a valuable platform for technological innovation exchange among universities across the country. By observing and learning from outstanding contestants from all over the country's innovative algorithms and technologies and designing and optimizing algorithms to solve complex problems more efficiently, I deeply appreciate the enormous potential and social responsibility of artificial intelligence technology and realize the importance of artificial intelligence for future society. Walking without giving up is like a thousand miles of a steed, embracing poverty like a hundred rivers. I look forward to contributing to promoting technological innovation and social progress in my future studies and work.

Fengyuan Yang: I am very grateful to the university for providing this valuable competition opportunity, which has given me the chance to bring glory to the school. In the competition, I have accumulated a lot of valuable personal experience, laying a solid foundation for my future development. I sincerely thank the school for their support and encouragement, which has enabled us to showcase our abilities and talents. Special thanks to our mentors and senior brothers for their valuable advice and support. Their help has enabled our team to overcome various difficulties and challenges and achieve excellent results. Through the joint efforts and cooperation of our team members, we ultimately won this honor. This success is the result of our joint efforts and also the starting point for our future development. We will continue to work hard and strive to bring glory to the school.

Jiahao Xu: Thank you to the university and the Faculty of Data Science for their support, which gave me the opportunity to participate in the AIOT Algorithm Application Competition. In the competition, I experienced technology sharing from students from different schools, and with the careful guidance and assistance of Dean Liu and Senior Hao Ye, I gained a deep understanding of the knowledge in the IoT field and achieved good competition results. Through this competition, I not only improved my skills, but also learned how to apply theoretical knowledge to practical projects. This valuable experience is of great significance to my learning and career development.

Rongkang Zhu:Thank you to the team members. Being able to work together with them and achieve such excellent results is a valuable experience in my life. During the competition, we worked closely together, supported each other, and overcame various difficulties and challenges together. During the competition, I combined the theoretical knowledge learned in class with practical applications and improved my technical ability and innovative thinking by solving practical problems. The repeated debugging and improvement during the competition have made me realize the importance of persistence and hard work. Our project direction is also aligned with the local situation in Macau, perhaps because of this unique entry point that adds a lot of points to our project.

Yuxuan Ma: First of all, I would like to thank the university for creating a strong academic atmosphere and diverse platforms, which have provided us with the motivation to explore valuable opportunities. In this AIRIOT application competition, we closely combined our learned knowledge with practice, continuously developed our own thinking for innovation, and finally won the first prize in the national finals.

Of course, during the competition, we gained far more than just awards, but more importantly, we expanded our knowledge beyond the classroom. As the ancient saying goes, "What is learned on paper is shallow, but what is truly known must be put into practice. In practice, I have learned how to apply business knowledge to develop practical budget plans and optimize resource allocation through cost-benefit analysis and financial forecasting to ensure product feasibility.

On behalf of the team, I would like to express our gratitude to our advisor, Vice Dean Liu. He innovatively combined the research of the Faculty of Finance and the Faculty of Data Science, injecting new vitality into this technology centered competition.

Innovation is not a castle in the air, it cannot be built solely by imagination. While drawing on the experience of our predecessors, we must also pay attention to the needs and pain points of consumers in real life. Only innovation that conforms to the direction of macroeconomic development can be realized. We should be good at thinking, brave in innovation, and ultimately boldly apply the knowledge we have learned to various fields.
