The 2023 (16th) Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition National Competition has recently come to a successful conclusion. This competition received a total of 5660 entries from 895 undergraduate institutions across the country. Two student representative teams from the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau stood out in their first participation and won the third prize in the national competition.
This competition is conducted in the form of a three-level competition consisting of "school level competition - provincial level competition - national level competition" and is divided into 11 competition categories. Among them, three students from the Faculty of Data Science, Yaokang Wang, Xueru Shi, and Jiajing Kang, participated in the artificial intelligence application category competition under the guidance of Associate Professor Wenjian Liu with their project "Steel Defect Detection Platform Based on Deep Learning". They won the second prize in the Guangdong Provincial Competition and went to Nanjing to participate in the national finals, ultimately winning the third prize. Under the guidance of lecturer Cheuk Man Wu, two students, Yibo Liang and Yuzhe Fan, participated in the big data application category competition with the project "Transformation of Macau's Tourism Industry Based on Big Data Perspective" and won the second prize in the Guangdong Provincial Competition. They also went to Shanghai to participate in the national finals and ultimately won the third prize.
The Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition (4C) is jointly organized by the Teaching Guidance Committee for Computer Majors in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Guidance Committee for Software Engineering Majors in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Guidance Committee for Computer Courses in Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Guidance Committee for Computer Fundamentals in Humanities of Higher Education Institutions of the Ministry of Education, and China Education Television. It was founded in 2007 and held once a year. The competition includes categories such as software application and development, micro courses and teaching assistance, Internet of Things applications, big data applications, artificial intelligence applications, digital media animation and short films, and computer music creation. It is one of the most influential and widely participated innovation and entrepreneurship competitions in China's computer industry. Aim to promote learning, teaching, and innovation through competition, and cultivate innovative, versatile, and applied talents with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor for the country.

Yaokang Wang: Thank you to the university for providing me with a valuable platform over the past two years, which has enabled me to make significant progress. Thank you to our mentor for providing professional guidance and answering questions for our team during the competition, which has made our work more complete. Thank you to Senior Brother Wu for correcting our mistakes during the competition, which has greatly benefited me as a first-time participant in this type of event. Finally, I would like to thank my team members. There were many difficulties and challenges during the competition, and it was the mutual motivation and complementarity among team members that made me understand what teamwork is.
Xueru Shi: It is a great honor to participate in the " Chinese Collegiate Computing Competition " and achieve good results. Thank you to the group members for their joint efforts, thank you to the teacher for their guidance, and also thank you to the college and school for their support. In this competition, I gained a lot, not only awards, but also learning how to work with classmates to create a project and continuously optimize it. In this process, each of us has gained an improvement in our ability to explore independently. Winning an award is not only a milestone, but also a beginning. In the future, I will continue to deepen my learning and constantly surpass myself.
Jiajing Kang: First of all, I would like to express my gratitude to the teachers from the school and the faculty for their hard work and guidance during the preparation and final roadshow defense of the competition. Their help not only reflects in the competition but also will have an impact on my future learning path. Secondly, I am very grateful to the team members. I am very fortunate to have met like-minded friends and to have the courage to overcome difficulties and explore together. Through this competition, I realized the importance of teamwork and learned a lot of cutting-edge knowledge in the field, which will provide necessary assistance for my future junior studies. My first participation in a computer competition and winning an award cannot be separated from the accumulation of courses and practical experience over the past two years, which has enabled me to achieve some accomplishments in the competition.
