In order to effectively enhance the understanding of local staff of the Faculty of Data Science at the City University of Macau on national development, explore educational cooperation between Macau SAR universities and mainland China, promote academic and exchange, and establish a solid and good foundation for cooperation with domestic universities, the Faculty of Data Science at the City University of Macau organized the "University of Macau Xi'an University Exchange and Historical and Cultural Inspection Team". From July 4th to 7th, 2023, the team visited well-known universities in Xi'an, conducted exchange learning and dialogue interactions, and inspected the historical and cultural heritage of Xi'an. This inspection activity is sponsored by the Macau Foundation, and the inspection team is composed of faculty and staff from the Faculty of Data Science at the City University of Macau.
The inspection activity was led by Vice Dean Wenjian Liu of the Faculty of Data Science, with a team of eleven members including Programme Coordinator Zuobin Ying, Assistant Professor Weng Tak Kuok, Assistant Professor Hoi Io Kong, Assistant Professor Chi Fong Wong, Assistant Professor Xia Feng, Lecturer Sio Fong Kong, Lecturer Cheuk Man Wu, as well as administrative teachers Sin Hang Lo, Ka Sin Wan, and Hoi Tong Ung. The inspection team visited the North Campus of Xidian University, the South Campus of Xidian University, and Xi'an University of Technology for a four-day visit and study tour.
Xidian University (North Campus): Xidian University is one of the famous electronic information higher education institutions in China, and the North Campus is the main campus of the university. During this inspection and discussion, the inspection team was warmly received by Zhuo Ma, Vice Dean of the Science Research Institute of Xidian University, Junwei Zhang, Vice Dean of the School of Economics and Management, Shouping Zhu, Vice Dean of the School of Life Science and Technology, Yang Zhang, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan Office, Xing Wang, Director of the Department, and Dawei Han, Project Manager.
Yang Zhang, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Office, gave a brief introduction to the historical evolution and academic development of Xidian University. During the period, members of the inspection team had full communication and exchanges with representatives of the school, learned advanced educational concepts and excellent experiences, deepened cooperation on the basis of mutual cooperation, and will promote joint talent cultivation. Subsequently, the inspection team visited the school to learn about the construction of campus facilities and supporting resources.
Xidian University (South Campus): The South Campus is located in the southern suburbs of Xi'an and is the new campus of Xidian University. The inspection team visited the Museum, School of Life Science and Technology, and School of Network and Information Security of Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology to learn about the latest research achievements and development of each college.
Xi'an University of Technology: Xi'an University of Technology is one of the famous science and engineering universities in China, mainly focusing on engineering. During this inspection and discussion, the inspection team was warmly received by Kang Wenxiang, Director of the International Cooperation and Exchange Office of Xi'an Technological University, Junhuai Li, Dean of the School of Computer Science, Xiaofeng Lu, Vice Dean, Yichuan Wang, Director of the Department of Network Engineering, Wenjiang Ji, Deputy Director, Cheng Shi, Deputy Director of the Department of Software Engineering, Wei Li, Hao Chen, Deputy Director of the Department of Computer Science, Kan Wang, Deputy Director of the Department of Internet of Things Engineering, and Shuchen Tan, Director of the Office of the School of Computer Science. The inspection team visited various colleges and laboratories of the school and learned about the research and development of the school in the fields of computer, network engineering, software engineering, and Internet of Things engineering.
Later, the delegation went to the Terra Cotta Warriors Museum of the First Emperor of Qin, the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, the ancient city wall of Xi'an, the Bell and Drum Tower, and Huimin Street to investigate the history and culture. These attractions not only allow faculty and staff to gain a deep understanding of the vast and profound history and culture of China but also experience the rich and colorful cultural charm of China.
This event not only enhanced the understanding of Chinese history and culture among faculty and staff but also deepened cooperation between the university and Xi'an universities, promoted joint talent cultivation, and deepened academic research cooperation.
