The 18th International Conference on Knowledge Science, Engineering and Management (KSEM 2025), hosted by City University of Macau, grandly opened at Wynn Palace, Macau on August 5, 2025. As the representative of the host university, Rector Liu Jun attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech, extending a warm welcome to experts and scholars from around the world.
Rector Liu Jun noted that the KSEM conference series was founded by Academician Lu Ruqian of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and is recommended as a Category C international conference by the China Computer Federation (CCF). Since its inception, the conference has been dedicated to promoting the integration of knowledge science, engineering, and management, continuously expanding into cutting-edge research areas such as large language models, AI security, and intelligent knowledge systems. The 17th KSEM conference was successfully held in Birmingham, UK last year, and this year, City University of Macau is honored to host this significant international academic event.
KSEM 2025 has attracted scholars from over ten countries and regions, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, Australia, Italy, and Japan. The conference received 354 submissions from around the globe. Following rigorous review by 342 program committee members and external experts, 106 full papers, 66 short papers, and 16 workshop papers were accepted for publication. The conference proceedings will be published by Springer Publishing House and submitted for EI indexing. These figures fully demonstrate KSEM's international influence and academic caliber.
As the host, Rector Liu Jun stated that City University of Macau has been committed to building an international platform for innovative research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and global academic exchange. In recent years, the university has made significant progress in high-quality research development, expansion of international cooperation, and cultivation of global talent.He further emphasized that the KSEM conference's ethos of "bridging East and West, integrating theory and practice, and promoting dialogue between science and society" strongly aligns with City University of Macau's educational mission. Through this conference, the CityU aims to advance high-quality development in intelligent technology and knowledge engineering within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, further solidifying its position as a center of academic excellence.Rector Liu warmly welcomed experts, scholars, and young researchers from various countries to gather in Macau, share research findings, engage in in-depth discussions, and establish long-term collaborations. He stressed that international conferences like KSEM not only push the boundaries of knowledge but also foster an open, inclusive, and collaborative international academic environment.
At the end of the ceremony, Rector Liu expressed gratitude to the conference organizing committee and acknowledged the strong support from co-hosts Guangzhou University and Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. He also extended thanks to all keynote speakers, including Professor Fang Binxing, Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, as well as paper authors and session chairs for their active participation and contributions. He expressed sincere hope that KSEM 2025 would provide inspiration and valuable insights for all attendees, wishing everyone a rewarding and enjoyable academic journey in Macau.
