City University of Macau and Deakin University Sign Cooperation Agreement to Jointly Launch Dual Bachelor's Degree Programs



Deakin University Vice-Chancellor Iain Martin and Associate Vice-Chancellor (International Affiars) John Molony recently visited City University of Macau, where they were warmly received by Vice-Rector Wanlei Zhou. The two universities jointly signed the “Framework Agreement for the Dual Bachelor's Degree Program Collaboration between City University of Macau and Deakin University.” They also initiated curriculum cooperation between CityU's Faculty of Data Science and Deakin's Faculty of Science, Engineering and Built Environment, providing CityU students with new international learning opportunities and pathways for further studies. Additionally, both parties engaged in in-depth discussions on talent cultivation, academic research, joint programs, and faculty-student exchanges, marking a new chapter in substantive collaboration between the two universities.

Vice-Rector Wanlei Zhou extended a warm welcome to President Iain Martin, detailing CityU's achievements in institutional development, disciplinary advancement, faculty strength, and international engagement. He particularly highlighted the potential for deepening future collaboration in data science, finance and business, and humanities and social sciences.

President Iain Martin shared Deakin University's disciplinary strengths and experiences in internationalization. He noted that Deakin University, with 51 years of development, is ranked between 200th and 300th globally in the 2025 QS World University Rankings. The university is renowned for its high-quality teaching and research, particularly excelling in health, education, data science, and business. He expressed anticipation for establishing closer ties and collaboration between the two institutions in the exchange of researchers and students.

Attendees at the symposium included: Cheung Wai Kong, Dean of the Faculty of Finance at City University of Macau; Wenjian Liu, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) of the Faculty of Data Science; Paulo Esperança, Professor at the Facultyl of Business; Qi Zhong, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Data Science; and Cheng Wu, Director of Global Affairs.
