City University of Macau Organised Academic Seminar on ‘Innovation and Practical Application of Cyber Security Technology’ to Promote the Development of Deep Integration of Industry and Education


In order to explore the latest technological advances and future trends in the field of large language modelling and cyber security, City University of Macau (CityU)  organised the ‘Innovation and Practical Application of Cyber Security Technology’ academic seminar today at Taipa campus, attracting many experts and scholars from academia and industry to start in-depth exchanges and discussions around the theme, and further promoting the integration of academic research and industry development. The symposium was jointly organised by CityU, Inspur (Longchao)  Cloud Information Technology Company Limited and Inspur (Longchao) Yunzhou Industrial Internet Company Limited, and hosted by the Faculty of Data Science of CityU and Guia-Inspur (Hengqin, Zhuhai) Digital Technology Company Limited.

In his opening speech, Mr. Ung Choi Kun Vice Chairman said that cyber security has become an increasingly important issue in the wave of digitalisation. CityU actively participates in the construction of the national public blockchain ‘Starfire-Chain’ and expects this seminar to contribute to the development of Macao's applications in the field of cyber security, and at the same time, promote the co-operation with Inspur (Longchao) to apply for the national key laboratories. 

 

During the seminar, Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei, Mr Li Cong, Director of Inspur (Longchao) Cloud Information Technology Company Limited, and Mr Chen Xiang, General Manager of Inspur (Longchao) Cloud Information Technology Company Limited, delivered keynote speeches covering hot topics such as the development trend of big language modelling, the challenges and prospects of AI applications, and the innovative application of security big models in the Sino-Portuguese trade platform. Participants had in-depth exchanges on cybersecurity education, policy development and cross-border cooperation, and shared their experiences in trade applications in Portuguese-speaking countries, with a view to further exploring the differences in the environment between the Mainland and Macao, and fostering co-operation between the two places in the areas of trade, security, and technology, so as to promote the development of regional economic integration. 

 

Under the theme of ‘New Approaches to Trade Security Empowered by Big Models’, the roundtable discussion focused on the environmental differences between the Mainland and Macao and the related co-operation opportunities, and explored the synergistic development paths between the needs of enterprises and academic research. The opportunities and challenges presented by the participants will help enterprises to better understand market demands, adjust their business strategies, enhance their competitiveness and improve their position in the international market. At the same time, universities will be able to better meet the needs of enterprises, promote in-depth co-operation between academia and industry, and nurture more professionals to meet the needs of the market. 

 

The symposium successfully built a communication platform that combines academia and practice, demonstrating CityU's scientific research strength in the field of cyber security and artificial intelligence. The event has given the participating experts and enterprise representatives more confidence in future co-operation, as well as a clearer understanding of CityU's industry needs and research direction, and we look forward to taking this opportunity to deepen multi-disciplinary co-operation in the future, and to promote Macao to become a leader in the Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Bay Area in terms of cybersecurity technology innovation and application.
