Congratulations! Vice Rector Wanlei Zhou was elected as 2025 IEEE Fellow.


Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) has recently announced the list of its latest Fellows, with more than 120 renowned Chinese scholars being selected. Among them, Professor Zhou Wanlei, Vice- Rector of the City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, has been elected as an IEEE Fellow in recognition of his contributions to cybersecurity and privacy protection. Among them, Professor Zhou Wanlei, Vice President of City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, was elected as an IEEE Fellow in recognition of his contributions to cybersecurity and privacy protection.

Professor Wanlei Zhou specialises in cyber security and privacy protection, computer networks, distributed systems, etc. He has chaired and completed 13 Australian National Research Council (ARC) projects and successfully trained dozens of PhDs and post-docs. He has published more than 500 academic papers in a series of international journals and conferences, of which more than 300 articles have been published in top industry journals. He has edited eight books, published four books, and served as a moderator for dozens of international computing conferences. Professor Wanlei Zhou has been named for many years to the ‘Lifetime Scientific Impact List’ of the ‘World's Top 2% Top Scientists’ published by Stanford University and Elsevier.

IEEE is the international society of engineers in electrical technology and information science, the world's largest professional and technical organisation, with more than 460,000 members in more than 190 countries, leading the development of cutting-edge technologies in high-tech fields such as aerospace, biotechnology, computer engineering, new energy, geographic information systems, neural networks, and wireless communications, etc. IEEE Fellow is the highest level of membership in the society, and is conferred only on those who have made a career in electrical, electronic engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, or in the field of information technology. IEEE Fellows are the highest level of membership in the Society and are awarded only to individuals who have demonstrated excellence in electrical and electronic engineering, computer science, information technology, and other related fields. Less than 0.1% of IEEE members are promoted to Fellow each year, and there are 338 IEEE Fellows in 2025.
