The ‘Huawei ICT Competition 2024-2025 Macau’ was held on 2 December at the Science Center. The event brought together more than 200 participants, including representatives from the government and organisations, representatives from the technology industry as well as teachers and students from 20 local universities, to discuss the issues of talent cultivation and enhancement of the competitiveness of local technological talents, as well as to honour the winning teams of this year's competition. 

 Three students from the Faculty of Data Science of the City University of Macao, namely Wu Yihong and Wang Pengxiang, Masters in Data Science, and Zhang Lanwei, Bachelor in Intelligent Technology and Services, stood out from nearly 800 students and won the Third Prize in the University Category of the Computing Competition. 

 The Huawei ICT Competition is an annual ICT competition for university students from around the world created by Huawei. With the theme of ‘Connectivity, Glory, Future’ and the slogan of ‘I.C. The Future’, the competition aims to build an international competition and exchange platform for university students around the world. The Macau leg of the competition was held from October to December, and was divided into three stages, namely the Macau Regional Competition, the Asia Pacific Regional Competition and the Global Competition, with cloud and computing circuits. Through the competition, the young people will be able to learn about the ICT industry in advance, enhance their practical and application skills and innovative ideas, provide reference for their future study and career direction, and inject new energy into the industry to create a better era of technology.

Wu YiHong 

I learnt a lot from this competition and made a lot of friends. We encountered a lot of difficulties, but we didn't give up and kept working hard. Of course, I still have a lot of deficiencies and need to keep learning. I will use this competition as an opportunity to work harder and prepare myself for the future. 

Zhang LanWei 

I am very grateful to Huawei and the university for providing us with the platform and support. I gained a lot from participating in this Huawei ICT Competition, and I gained further knowledge and understanding of the principles of the operating system while learning related knowledge. In addition, I am honoured to have made it to the final round and met two excellent teammates. I hope more students will join the Huawei ICT Competition in the future to broaden their horizons and achieve better results. 

Wang PengXiang 

I would like to thank Huawei and my university for giving us the opportunity to participate in the Huawei ITC Competition. This competition not only let me get to know excellent talents but also broadened my horizons and ideas. Instead of saying that this is a competition, I would say that it is a process of learning from experienced teachers and students, so that my knowledge and ability have been honed and grown.
