The Faculty of Data Science successfully hosted the third ‘Go Green’ Staff Club Tea Party in the 2024-2025 academic year


On 20th November 2024, the Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau hosted the third ‘Go Green’ Staff Club Tea Gathering for the 2024-2025 academic year at the Exhibition Hall of Taipa Cultural Centre. The gathering was not only a time for all staff to get together, but also a vivid demonstration of the faculty's culture and team spirit. 

 

At the beginning of the gathering, Rector Liu Jun delivered a warm speech. He firstly expressed his high appreciation to all the staff for their hard work and remarkable achievements in the past year, and emphasised the important contribution of the staff team to the overall development of the school. Rector Liu encouraged everyone to continue to maintain their innovative spirit and enterprising attitude, and to work together to promote the continued prosperity of the faculty and the university. 

 

Prof Zhou Wanlei, Vice-rector of the City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, also delivered a warm speech. Professor Chau reviewed the recent achievements of the faculty in academic research, teaching quality and student training, and expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the staff for their selfless dedication. He encouraged everyone to continue to develop team spirit and contribute more wisdom and strength to the innovation and development of City University of Macau. 

 

Next, the Graduate School, in order to stimulate the enthusiasm of postgraduate students and outstanding teachers to devote themselves to academic research, and to enhance the research capability and quality of results, appointed the Faculty of Data Science to organise the ‘Postgraduate Students’ Outstanding Published Paper Award for the Academic Year of 2023-2024’ award presentation ceremony during the event, in order to recognise the research results that have been published in important core journals, included in authoritative indexes, and the outstanding paper works published in the public domain. 

This year, after a rigorous selection process, a total of 37 outstanding works stood out from the rest, and a total of 58 professors and students were honored, which fully demonstrated the academic strength of the postgraduate students of the City University of Macau, and showed that the university attaches great importance to the enhancement of academic standards and the relentless pursuit of the university. 

City University of Macau always adheres to the concept of ‘academic first, teachers and students research together’, encourages teachers and students to work together to explore the academic frontiers, in order to cultivate more high-quality and high-level academic talents, laying a solid foundation and injecting new vitality into the prosperous development of academic research. 

 

After the award ceremony, the Faculty of Data Science has prepared some wonderful scientific and technological activities for this tea gathering. In the ‘Information Security Awareness Week Exhibition’ jointly organised by the Faculty and the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau at the Macao Science Center last month, a lot of interactive contents related to AI and information security were displayed, which were Wi-Fi password cracking, remote monitoring of mobile phones, phishing for e-mails and webpages, real-time AI face change and voice change, keyboard and voice change, input monitoring, blockchain monitoring, and real-time AI face change and voice change. Input monitoring, blockchain cross-chain communication, and large language model Stable Diffusion deployment, etc. These demonstrations were brought to the venue for staff to experience and exchange ideas. Refined refreshments and a wealth of interactive prizes were also arranged for the event, allowing everyone to experience the charm of data science in a joyful atmosphere. 

 

The staff actively participated in the activities and the scene was filled with laughter and joy. These activities not only enhanced the friendship and teamwork among staff, but also allowed everyone to relax and enjoy themselves after a busy day at work and experience the infinite possibilities of science and technology.
