City University of Macau and Quantum Nebula (Macao) Microelectronics Co., Ltd. establish ‘Trusted Storage and AI Joint Laboratory’ to cultivate high-quality trusted storage professionals


In order to promote all-round enhancement of trusted storage and artificial intelligence (AI) storage and computing performance, and to promote innovative co-operation between universities and enterprises, the City University of Macao (CityU) and Quantum Nebula (Macao) Microelectronics Co., Ltd (hereinafter referred to as ‘Quantum Nebula ’) to jointly establish the ‘Trusted Storage and AI Joint Laboratory’, which is committed to promoting the cross-field integration and exploration of intelligent storage, data security and other industries, as well as cultivating high-quality professional talents in trustworthy storage, artificial intelligence and other disciplines by relying on the strengths of the two parties. The signing ceremony was held on 17 October 2024 at the 29th Macao International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF). Witnessed by Zhang Laozhi Chairman of Hefei Xinfeng Technology Co., Ltd, and Ung Choi Kun, Vice Chairman of the Council of CityU, Liu Jun, Rector of CityU, and Xu Feng, Chairman of Quantum Nebula, signed the contract on behalf of the two parties to create an innovative model of university-enterprise cooperation. 

 

Rector Liu Jun expressed his hope to combine Quantum Nebula's strength in cutting-edge chip research with CityU's strength in data science to create a strong alliance. Through the co-operation between the two parties, we will contribute to the development of the society in the fields of intelligent storage, data security and other disciplines and industries, and cultivate students to be innovative and enhance their academic and practical abilities. 

 

The Chairman Mr. Xu Feng, said that CityU has excellent teachers and achievements in the field of data science and artificial intelligence, and hoped to carry out in-depth industry-academia-research co-operation with CityU in the field of storage chips and artificial intelligence, so as to complement each other's strengths and contribute to the promotion of the development of the storage chip industry and Macao's science and technology industry development. 

 

In the future, the laboratory will integrate the advantageous resources of the government, industry, academia, research and application in the field of digital storage, relying on the scientific research capability, technology research capability, product development capability, talent reserves and various resource endowments of both sides, and around the basic theoretical research, key technology development, cutting-edge scientific research and technological innovation in the fields of credible storage and AI storage and computing, etc., with complementary strengths and sharing of resources, to carry out the following joint research activities strategic, innovative and collaborative cooperative research, establish a mechanism for practical learning and joint training of students, cultivate high-end professionals adapted to the development of modern enterprises, and collaborate to complete the transfer and application promotion of R&D results, so as to build industrial and academic platforms with industrial and academic influence.
