Feng Yecheng, member of the Party Group and Vice President of Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang, led a delegation to visit the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau on September 10th and was warmly received by Dean Zhou Wanlei. The guests visited the laboratory, research facilities, and office environment of City University of Macau Hengqin Science and Technology Innovation Center. During this period, Dean Zhou Wanlei and Vice Dean Feng Yecheng signed cooperation agreements on behalf of both parties to establish the "City University of Macau Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang Joint Laboratory", and held in-depth discussions and exchanges on the joint laboratory construction and future innovative cooperation models. Zhu Tianqing, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau, and Zhang Haibin, Director of the Information Technology Institute of Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang, accompanied the delegation to attend the symposium.
The Joint Laboratory aims to promote the development of data decision-making, data science theory, and technology, and is committed to driving high-quality scientific research in the region. It conducts strategic, innovative, and collaborative cooperative research, builds a national first-class new research and development institution, and serves the strategic development of artificial intelligence and information security in the country.
At the meeting, both sides fully exchanged views on joint application for key laboratories, joint talent cultivation, and collaborative development of industry university research. Dean Zhou Wanlei introduced the curriculum development of the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau. He stated that in the future, both sides will combine the policy advantages of Macau, the scientific research advantages of the City University of Macau, and the innovative models and research achievements of Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang to further promote cooperation in the field of artificial intelligence, achieve complementary advantages, and produce higher quality scientific research results. Vice Dean Feng Yecheng introduced the overview of Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang. He expressed the hope that the two universities can further strengthen the exchange and mutual visits of teaching and research personnel, promote industry university research cooperation, and facilitate the transformation of joint laboratory achievements.
Subsequently, Vice Dean Zhu Tianqing emphasized the faculty and research achievements of the Faculty of Data Science at the City University of Macau. Director Zhang Haibin introduced the comprehensive integrated security platform being developed by the institute, as well as the cutting-edge technologies in the field of information security covered by the platform, such as multi-party secure computing, homomorphic encryption, blockchain, federated learning, etc.
Both parties will have in-depth discussions on the plan for joint talent cultivation. The attendees of this symposium also include Anyang, a representative of Yangtze Delta Region Institute of Tsinghua University, Zhejiang; Representatives from the Faculty of Data Science include programme coordinator Ying Zuobin, Assistant Professor Zhou Shuai, and Assistant Professor Chen Huajie.
