On September 6, Zheng Quanshui, an honorary doctor of the City University of Macau, the chief honorary professor of the honorary class, and academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences visited the City University of Macau, attended the launching ceremony of the honorary class of the City University of Macau, and lectured on the master lecture of the City University of Macau. Academician Zheng Quanshui gave a wonderful speech on the theme of "Joyful Learning and Teaching - Creative Education: Practice and Reflection on New Education in the Digital Age".
President Liu Jun of the City University of Macau warmly welcomes the arrival of Academician Zheng Quanshui and deeply respects his contribution to the education of outstanding innovative talents. Academician Zheng is an expert in solid mechanics and micro nano mechanics, dedicated to cultivating top-notch innovative students and researching innovative education for many years. He is an academic master and a senior educator. This year, under the guidance and strong support of Academician Zheng Quanshui, City University of Macau and Shenzhen X-Institute have closely cooperated to launch an honor class, cultivating innovative and application-oriented high-end data science talents.
In the lecture, Academician Zheng mentioned that in the current era of digital intelligence, "knowledge is power" is no longer appropriate. What is more important is to master the ability to imagine and create the future. He used himself as an example to point out that being able to freely pursue one's interests, learn self-learning and exploration during the process of growing up, is the key to success in the future. He believes that the "A-type students" who grow up under traditional education are constrained by the inherent evaluation system and have significant limitations, while the other type of "X-type students" are able to hold an open attitude and critical spirit, bravely exploring unknown fields. Academician Zheng proposed a new educational model - creative education, which is an education driven by innovation to drive growth. He analyzed multiple cases of X-shaped students growing up happily and pointed out the importance of a person's internal factor - "passion". The Tsien Excellence in Engineering Program has continuously developed based on this, ultimately forming a unique educational ecosystem that allows everyone to embark on personalized growth.
After the lecture, Academician Zheng had a face-to-face exchange with students from the City University of Macau, discussing the construction of educational intelligent agents and the scientific nature of education, providing guidance for students' learning and growth breakthroughs.
