Vice President Wanlei Zhou leads a delegation to visit renowned universities in Australia to expand talent exchange and international cooperation



 

In order to strengthen international connections and cooperation in higher education, expand talent exchanges, and attract outstanding academic personnel to join, Professor Wanlei Zhou, Vice President and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau, led a delegation to visit Australia and visited four internationally renowned universities, including the University of Sydney, University of Technology Sydney, University of New South Wales, and Macquarie University. Pro- Rector Su Wicky Kam Hung So, Vince Te Lin Chu and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Data Science Wenjian Liu accompanied the visit. 

 

Visiting the University of Technology Sydney 

 

The University of Technology Sydney is renowned for its cutting-edge position in technological progress and applied education and is a vibrant modern and innovative university. During their visit to the University of Technology Sydney, the delegation was warmly received by the Dean of Academic Affairs, Senior Vice President Vicki Chen, and Vice President Leo Liu. Both parties signed a student exchange and credit recognition agreement and had in-depth exchanges and discussions on important issues such as talent introduction, campus construction, and summer international courses. After the meeting, the delegation visited the campus facilities of the University of Technology Sydney, including the library, classrooms, student activity areas, restaurants, and sports facilities, and personally experienced the advanced equipment in the university laboratory. In addition, the delegation held a recruitment briefing at the University of Technology Sydney, introducing Macau's talent introduction policies and other content to over 40 doctoral students and postdoctoral scholars, which was warmly welcomed. 

Visiting the University of New South Wales 

 

The University of New South Wales is a world leading research-oriented comprehensive university, known as the "MIT of the Southern Hemisphere", and has the largest engineering school in Australia. The delegation visited campus facilities such as teaching equipment, libraries, student areas, and auditoriums at the University of New South Wales, and learned about the school's development strategy, internationalization process, and achievements in university rankings. 

 

Visiting the University of Sydney 

 

The University of Sydney was founded in 1850 and is the oldest university in Australia, consistently ranking among the top universities in the world. During their visit to the University of Sydney, the delegation gained a detailed understanding of the campus construction and planning, and visited several newly completed buildings, laboratories, and museums. 

 

Visit Macquarie University 

 

Macquarie University is renowned for its outstanding academic achievements and high-quality research results and has a high international reputation in the fields of applied finance, actuarial science, accounting, international trade, and other financial fields. During the visit, the delegation was warmly received by Vice President Lee Ann Norris. Both sides had in-depth discussions on the development of the university and agreed to jointly promote cooperation projects such as credit recognition and student exchange. After the meeting, the delegation visited the Student Entrepreneurship and Incubation Center, and the center director Melissa Ryan gave a detailed introduction to the center's operation, entrepreneurial projects, and the selection process of incubated enterprises. In addition, the delegation also visited campus facilities such as student dormitories and newly completed colleges and held a lecture for dozens of doctoral and postdoctoral scholars to introduce Macau's talent introduction policies and university recruitment. 

 

This trip to Australia not only laid a solid foundation for the exchange and cooperation between City University of Macau and internationally renowned universities but also injected new vitality into the future development of City University of Macau. City University of Macau will continue to leverage its own advantages, strive to achieve the development vision of "Macau characteristics, Chinese soul, and international perspective", actively undertake more social responsibilities, implement the concept of "education for Macau and talent for Macau", and make greater contributions to the higher education industry in the region.
