The 20th Huawei Cup 20th China Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling was successfully held and the list of winners was announced recently. Two student representative teams from the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau stood out from 19898 participating teams and won the second and third prizes respectively.
Yongjian Jia and Xier Zhong, graduate students of the Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau, teamed up with a classmate of Renmin University of China and won the second prize of the national award. Linlin Wang, Yifan Li, and Ruishen Chen teamed up to participate in the competition and won the third prize nationwide.
The China Post-Graduate Mathematical Contest in Modeling is one of the themed events of the "China Graduate Innovation Practice Series Competition", guided by the Degree Management and Graduate Education Department of the Ministry of Education, and hosted by the China Academic Degrees and Graduate Education Society and the Youth Science and Technology Center of the China Association for Science and Technology. It is an academic competition aimed at conducting research and practice on mathematical modeling applications for current graduate students. This competition attracts graduate student teams from 507 universities and research institutes around the world. After rigorous evaluation by the expert committee over the past two months, 200 first prize teams, 2659 second prize teams, and 3981 third prize teams were selected. The total number of award-winning teams is 6840, with a total award-winning proportion of 34.38%.

Mathematical modeling competitions require teamwork, and close collaboration with teammates is crucial. Team members should trust each other, communicate effectively, and fully utilize each person's expertise and skills. Reasonable division of labor and effective collaboration can improve team efficiency and results. Good time management skills are equally important. Reasonably arrange time to ensure that there is sufficient time to complete each stage and leave time for proofreading and modification. Choose a suitable mathematical model based on the characteristics and requirements of the problem. The model should be able to accurately describe the problem and provide useful solutions. Choosing the appropriate model requires a certain understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of different models, and balancing and selecting them based on specific problems. By participating in such competitions, we can better understand the types and solutions of problems, become familiar with commonly used mathematical models and tools, and improve our problem-solving abilities and efficiency.

Mathematical modeling is not only the application of theoretical knowledge but also requires in-depth analysis and solution of practical problems. In the competition, we encountered many difficulties and challenges, but it is these challenges that make us think more deeply about the problem and find solutions. Through continuous discussion and exploration, we gradually found a solution to the problem and became more aware of the importance of teamwork. Winning the second prize in this competition is not only a recognition of myself, but also a motivation for my future learning and development. Thank you to the teachers and classmates for their support, as well as to my teammates for their tacit cooperation. I hope to share my experience and insights with more classmates. I will continue to work hard, constantly improve myself, and make progress together with everyone!

Mathematical modeling is not only about solving problems, but also a manifestation of teamwork. Team spirit is an important factor in achieving good results in mathematical modeling, and a team of three people should support and encourage each other. During the three days of the modeling competition, my friends and I provided feedback and communication, analyzed doubts, and complemented each other's strengths to showcase our own strengths. On the final night of the competition, it's not about intelligence, but rather endurance and perseverance. Those who persist often succeed. Thank you to the other two teammates in the team for working together and delivering a perfect answer sheet. We also thank our mentor, Associate Professor Ying Zuobin, for his guidance. One competition, lifelong benefits, teaching us to constantly challenge ourselves and gain a sense of friendship!

I am honored to have won the third prize in the Huawei Cup Mathematical Modeling Competition. Some people believe that the mathematical modeling competition is just an ordinary competition and not worth making a fuss about. And in my heart, it holds great significance, as if I have undergone a transformation after participating in the competition. The Huawei Cup has greatly enhanced our ability to withstand pressure and cultivated our awareness of time management. These are the abilities that we should possess in our scientific research work. Secondly, the competition questions are designed by experts based on practical problems, which means that we are solving a completely new topic in a short period of time without ready-made experience and methods that can be copied. This has improved our innovation awareness and problem-solving ability. Finally, interdisciplinary integration is a major feature of this competition, which helps broaden our academic horizons. I am also grateful to have met my teammates. Thank you all for not giving up and not giving up, persisting in participating in training and completing competitions. The friendship of this' comrade in arms' will always be in my heart. Thank you for the strong support from the school for the graduate student competition. I also hope that my teammates and I will cherish our study time here, live up to our youth, and achieve our life dreams.

I am very honored to have won the third prize in the Huawei Cup Mathematical Modeling Competition. This competition has given me a profound experience of the power of teamwork. Each of us has our own expertise, and in the competition, we need to integrate this expertise together to form a whole. We discuss problems together, search for solutions together, and each person's viewpoint is respected and considered. In the face of difficulties, we encourage each other and inspire the strength of the team. At the same time, I would also like to thank the guidance teachers for their careful guidance. Their professional knowledge and experience have been of great help to us. Although we only won third prize, the experience of this competition is priceless to me. I will bring the experience and lessons of this competition into my future learning and life, constantly improve myself, and strive to achieve better results in the next competition.
