On the morning of April 13, 2025, the opening ceremony of the "Fang Binxing Experimental Class and the on-site class of the Fang Class Seminar Hall" was held solemnly at the Taipa Campus of the City University of Macau. This is the spring opening of the Fang Class of the City University of Macau in 2025, and it is also the first time that the Fang Class Seminar Hall has been held at the City University of Macau, as well as the first time that the Fang Class has held an on-site class at an overseas university. The ceremony invited Vice President Zhou Wanlei of the City University of Macau and Academician Fang Binxing of the Chinese Academy of Engineering to deliver speeches. In his speech, Vice President Zhou extended a warm welcome to the guests present and introduced the outstanding students cultivated by the Fang Class of the City University of Macau over the years, hoping that the Fang Class could broaden the horizons of the students of the City University of Macau and cultivate first-class information security talents for the university. Academician Fang, with his profound professional knowledge and rich practical experience, emphasized the importance of cyber security in modern society and looked forward to the future development direction of the Fang Class. In addition, the event also invited many experts and scholars, including Academician Zheng Weimin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Dai Qionghai of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Li Xiaoming, Vice President of the Greater Bay Area University, and Professor Tian Zhihong, Vice President of Guangzhou University.
This Fang Class Seminar Hall is equipped with six seminar halls, located in classrooms L305, L306, L307, L308, L309, and L310 on the third floor of the Luso-Chinese Building at the Taipa Campus of the City University of Macau. The main and deputy reviewers include Academician Dai Qionghai of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Academician Zheng Weimin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor Zhou Wanlei of the City University of Macau, Professor Tian Zhihong of Guangzhou University, Professor Li Xiaoming of the Greater Bay Area University, Professor Xu Guandong of the Hong Kong Institute of Education, Professor Li Zhoujun of Beihang University, Professor Shu Jiangang of Guangzhou University, Professor Lu Hui of Guangzhou University, Professor Li Shudong of Guangzhou University, Professor Liu Yuan of Guangzhou University, Professor Sun Zhe of Guangzhou University, and Professor Wu Lianren of Guangzhou University, etc. Academician Fang Binxing will also tour and review each seminar hall.
The discussion topics cover multiple themes, including artificial intelligence security, data privacy protection, blockchain security, attack and defense, etc. The students of the Fang Class share the most cutting-edge papers through thematic speeches, and then the students and teachers ask questions about the shared papers to ask questions to their classmates. Finally, the main and deputy reviewers raise new questions and evaluation opinions on the speeches and answers of the Fang Class students. Through this method, the students giving speeches can have a deeper understanding of the content of the papers, and the students attending the lecture can have a better understanding of the cutting-edge fields. Cultivating students to read papers, present papers, and conduct research through the latest research results and the guidance of the main and deputy reviewers, mentors, and question teachers is the biggest feature of the Fang Class teaching. This was demonstrated very fully in this seminar hall, and the students participating in the discussion were extremely enthusiastic. After the seminar hall ended, the experts of the seminar hall, the mentors of the Fang Class of the City University of Macau, and the students of the Fang Class took a group photo in front of the Nine-Dragon Wall on campus.
