July 8, 2025 – The "Communication and Security Technology & Talent Development Forum," organized by the China Computer Federation (CCF), was successfully held in Guangzhou. As a specially invited institution, the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau (CityU) participated in the event with a delegation led by Associate Dean Professor Zhu Tianqing. The delegation engaged in discussions with experts and scholars from leading institutions, including the National University of Defense Technology and Guangzhou University, to explore cutting-edge industry developments and innovative approaches to talent cultivation.
Productive Cross-Border Academic Exchange
The forum brought together leading academics and researchers from dozens of universities and research institutions across the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). Participants exchanged insights on emerging trends, technological advancements, and novel methodologies in communication and security technology, fostering collaboration for industry growth.
PhD Students Excel with Dual Honors
At the parallel "2025 Guangdong Provincial Graduate Forum – Cyberspace Security Graduate Forum," two PhD candidates from the Faculty of Data Science, Wang Linlin and Qin Laiqiao, stood out among numerous participants. Their well-founded research and outstanding presentations earned them both Second Prize in the academic speech competition.
Strengthening Industry-Academia-Research Collaboration in the GBA
The event further solidified academic ties between Macao and mainland universities in cybersecurity. The Faculty of Data Science will continue leveraging its cross-border teaching and research strengths under the "One Country, Two Systems" principle to nurture interdisciplinary professionals with technical expertise, regulatory knowledge, and a global perspective for the Greater Bay Area.
The forum's success has enhanced academic and technological cooperation among GBA institutions in communication and security technology, contributing to the advancement of cyberspace security talent and innovation.
