City University of Macau Students Achieve Outstanding Results in National Marine Vessel Design and Production Competition



At the 14th National Contest on Marine Vessel Design and Production (South China Regional Competition) held at Guangzhou Maritime College from July 12 to 13, 2025, two teams from the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau delivered exceptional performances, securing a First Prize and a Third Prize respectively. Their achievements demonstrate the university’s innovative capabilities in the field of intelligent marine technology.

In the "Smart Navigation" category, the team led by student Yuan Ziang won the First Prize for their outstanding technical solution and impressive defense. Team members included Shi Zihan, under the guidance of Associate Professor Duan Junwei. Their project focused on the optimization and application of intelligent marine navigation systems, showcasing advanced engineering practical skills and innovative thinking.

Another team, the "Surface Unmanned Vessel Team" competing in the "Design and Production – Surface Group" category, stood out among numerous participants and was awarded the Third Prize. The team was captained by Li Jiaxi, with members Pei HaolinGuo Yifan, and Zheng Wenjun, also supervised by Associate Professor Duan Junwei. Their project centered on the design and control technology of surface unmanned vessels, demonstrating stable performance and excellent maneuverability during the competition.

Throughout the competition, the delegation from the Faculty of Data Science exhibited remarkable academic enthusiasm and team spirit during their preparation. Achieving such excellent results in a fiercely competitive arena is a significant accomplishment. These awards not only recognize the students’ hard work but also reflect City University of Macau’s achievements in cultivating interdisciplinary talent.
