Vice Rector Ip Kuai Peng led a delegation that included Zhu Tianqing, associate dean of the Faculty of Data Science, Prof. Sun Xin, João Simões, director of the “Belt and Road” Portuguese-Speaking Countries Information and National Conditions Research Center, and Zhou Long, associate dean of the Graduate School. They showcased multiple cutting-edge research achievements from CityU and participated in the judging panel in project evaluations, helping to bridge communication for technological innovation and industry collaboration among universities in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
The in-depth integration of industry, academia, and research in the GBA is a vital practice in response to the national initiative for developing new quality productive forces. It is also a key component of Macao’s “1+4” moderate diversification strategy. The government encourages universities, research institutions, and enterprises to share innovative resources and complement each other’s strengths. This is based on principles of collaborative research and development, shared benefits, and mutual risk-bearing, aiming to strengthen joint talent cultivation, advance technological innovation, and promote the translation of research outcomes.
Guided by the three-dimensional mechanism of the “national innovation-driven strategy—industry-academia collaborative policy—regional industry demand”, the First Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao University Science and Technology Achievements successfully opened. It established a specialized collaborative innovation platform for displaying technological achievements and facilitating industry-academia connections, becoming an important practical vehicle for implementing regional innovation mechanisms and promoting the transformation of university research outcomes.
