CityU hosts achievement exhibition to showcase innovations in smart tech education

To showcase the innovative achievements of the Faculty of Data Science (FDS) at City University of Macau (CityU) in the fields of smart technology education, and to inspire creativity while fostering more collaboration opportunities, FDS has recently hosted an exhibition to showcase the achievements on smart education and technology education at the Centre of Educational Resources of the Education and Youth Development Bureau. The opening ceremony took place today.

Attendees at the ceremony included Carlos Roberto Xavier, head of the Department of Tertiary Education of the Macao SAR Government Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ); To Ka Hou, head of DSEDJ’s Division of Information and Technology; Zhou Wanlei, vice rector of CityU and dean of the Faculty of Data Science; as well as program coordinators Chu Chia-Wei, Ying Zuobin, Kong Hoi Io, assistant professor Cui Sanshuai, and faculty and students.

In his speech, Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei expressed gratitude to the DSEDJ for their strong support of the event. He emphasized FDS's educational principle of integrating innovation with practice while incorporating cutting-edge technological developments into teaching to enhance educational quality and optimize the learning experience. He expressed hopes that this event would serve as a bridge for communication between educators and technology practitioners, inspiring teaching innovation and facilitating mutual empowerment between technology and education.

The exhibition is centered around the concept of “Technology Empowering Education”, showcasing the latest achievements of the faculty and student teams from the FDS in the fields of smart education and technological applications. It demonstrates the in-depth integration and breakthroughs of artificial intelligence technologies across various domains, including education, healthcare, meteorology, and manufacturing. Exhibited works include: a cloud-based recognition system, a collaborative platform for manufacturing services in the Zhuhai and Macao, a traditional Chinese medicine recognition applet, a virtual reality interactive exhibition hall, hurricane visualization platform for the Western Pacific and South China Sea, an AI-generated 3D interactive digital resource creation system, a single-image dehazing algorithm based on deep feature fusion networks (DFFN), and a diagnosis system for diabetic retinopathy. These projects not only reflect an in-depth integration of theory and practice but also highlight the core value of technology in enhancing educational quality and addressing real-world problems.

The exhibition is sponsored by DSEDJ and will be held at the Innovative Technology Education Platform on the 1st floor of the Centre of Educational Resources from now until July 11 (Friday). Open to the public with free admission
