.Congratulations! Shao Yuancheng, doctoral student in the Faculty of Data Science, has been selected for the 2025 Young Talents Support Project Doctoral Program


Recently, the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) announced the list of selected candidates for the "2025 CAST Young Talents Support Project for Doctoral Students," and Shao Yuancheng, a doctoral student from the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau, was successfully selected based on his outstanding research capabilities and remarkable academic potential.

The "CAST Young Talents Support Project for Doctoral Students" is a national-level talent support program implemented by CAST. It aims to broaden the reach of academic resources to promising young scientific and technological talents, primarily targeting senior doctoral students under the age of 30 in science, engineering, agriculture, and medicine at universities and research institutions, providing support and training for a period not exceeding two years. The program focuses on providing selected candidates with academic funding, organizational recruitment, and academic adjuncts to help outstanding doctoral students grow better.

Dr. Shao Yuancheng's selection reflects the faculty's strong emphasis on cultivating graduate students' research and innovation capabilities, continuously optimizing the academic ecosystem, and actively aligning with major national strategic needs. The faculty encourages students to participate in high-level research projects, and the selection of City University of Macau students into this national-level doctoral talent program will further stimulate students' research enthusiasm and set an example for young students at the university.

Brief Introduction of Selected Candidate: Dr. Shao Yuancheng, a 2024 PhD candidate at the School of Big Data Science, Macau University of Science and Technology, holds a Master's degree in Robotics from Imperial College London, UK, under the supervision of renowned scholar Professor Gu Jia. His research focuses on the research and development of motion planning and control algorithms for flexible surgical robots, and workspace analysis and dynamic modeling of surgical robots. He has received honors such as the First Prize in the Startup Group of the 2025 China Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition.
