FDS CityU and Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University Jointly Hold Inter-university Academic Exchange Seminar



On August 4, 2026, the City University of Macau (CityU Macau) and the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University co-hosted an inter-university academic exchange seminar. Focusing on cutting-edge fields including electronic information, artificial intelligence, navigation and communication, and antenna technologies, faculty and students from both universities conducted in-depth achievement sharing and academic discussions on four key research directions: medical image segmentation, federated learning algorithms, vehicle-mounted navigation security, and terahertz antenna technologies.

Attendees of the seminar included Professor Zhou Wanlei, Rector of City University of Macau; Zhu Tianqing, Director of the Faculty of Data Science; Liu Wenjian, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Data Science; as well as associate professors Ying Zuobin, Duan Junwei, Chen Hao, Cai Jianping and other faculty representatives from CityU Macau. Dr. Ji Jianhang and Dr. Pan Zijie of CityU Macau, together with Dr. Liu Xuan, Dr. Ma Yimin and other faculty and student representatives from the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University, participated in the exchange activities.

At the opening of the seminar, Rector Zhou Wanlei, Dean Zhu Tianqing, Associate Dean Liu Wenjian, Associate Professor Ying Zuobin and other faculty members of CityU Macau delivered speeches in turn. All guests congratulated the successful convening of this inter-university academic exchange seminar, and elaborated respectively on CityU Macau’s discipline construction, research layout and talent cultivation achievements in artificial intelligence and cutting-edge engineering technologies. The guests stated that they hoped to take this seminar as an opportunity to strengthen academic cooperation with the Department of Electronic Engineering of Tsinghua University, and carry out regular cooperation such as scientific research exchange, achievement sharing and faculty-student visits, so as to boost the high-quality discipline development and breakthroughs in cutting-edge technological innovation of both universities.

Following the speeches, Dr. Ji Jianhang and Dr. Pan Zijie from CityU Macau delivered academic reports on their respective research fields successively. Dr. Ji Jianhang shared the latest research progress on adaptive optimization and reliable deployment of cross-center medical image segmentation. Dr. Pan Zijie systematically elaborated on catastrophic forgetting algorithms and their application optimization in federated learning scenarios. Their reports sparked lively discussions among faculty and students on site, providing valuable references for follow-up research in relevant fields.

After the academic presentations by CityU Macau scholars, the League Branch Secretary of the Department of Electronic Engineering, Tsinghua University gave a special introduction to the overall development of the department. Subsequently, Dr. Ma Yimin and Dr. Liu Xuan from the department delivered special reports on vehicle-mounted navigation system security and terahertz antenna technologies respectively. Their reports closely aligned with the frontiers of engineering applications, and they had in-depth discussions with the participating faculty and students on difficulties in technology implementation and future development trends.

The seminar completed all agendas successfully. Through achievement sharing, problem discussion and exchange of ideas, faculty and students from both universities systematically summarized the technological advantages and existing challenges in various research fields, and identified multiple potential research directions with innovative value. This exchange effectively narrowed the academic and research distance between the two universities and promoted ideological communication among young researchers, laying a solid foundation for future joint research projects, academic visits, joint talent training and achievement transformation cooperation. Both parties stated that they would continue to deepen cross-university academic exchanges, conduct regular cooperation focusing on the frontiers of electronic information, and promote the mutual improvement of discipline construction and scientific research innovation.
