21 August 2026. As the new academic year approaches, all teaching and research work is set to commence in an orderly manner. To unite the faculty team, arrange work for the new semester, and welcome newly joined teachers, the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau successfully held the “2026 Academic Year Opening Welcome Tea Gathering” on the eve of the new semester. The event gathered all faculty and administrative staff members for casual exchanges and joint planning for the new semester’s development.
Centred on the theme of “Welcoming New Members and Forging Ahead Together”, the tea gathering adopted a relaxed communication format instead of formal meetings, building a harmonious platform for faculty interaction. During the event, the faculty’s management team delivered a comprehensive work deployment for the new academic year. It elaborated on pre-semester preparations, administrative procedures, student management, research promotion and other key work arrangements, sorted out operational guidelines for all positions, and clarified the goals and implementation details of teaching, research and service work, ensuring standardized, orderly and efficient operation of all faculty affairs in the new semester.
In addition, all faculty members extended a warm welcome to new teachers, helping them quickly integrate into the team and get familiar with the campus environment as well as the faculty’s teaching and research system. Taking this valuable opportunity, new and senior teachers shared teaching experiences and curriculum design methods, exchanged ideas on research development, and conducted in-depth discussions on teaching innovation, talent cultivation and industry-university-research integration in disciplines including data science, artificial intelligence, information security and smart healthcare, enabling mutual learning and progress.
Hosted in a warm and pleasant atmosphere, the tea gathering effectively relieved staff’s work pressure from summer handover and pre-semester preparation. It further strengthened team cohesion and demonstrated the faculty’s collaborative and positive working spirit. All faculty and staff expressed their commitment to embracing new semester challenges with full enthusiasm and rigorous work attitude, fulfilling their responsibilities in teaching, research and talent cultivation.
Moving forward, the Faculty of Data Science will continue to build diverse communication platforms for faculty members and organize regular team activities. By consolidating team strengths and optimizing the teaching and research system, the faculty will continuously promote high-quality development in discipline construction, talent cultivation and industry-university-research integration, injecting sustainable momentum into the advancement of Macao’s higher education and the appropriate economic diversification of the region.
