To promote science popularization education and deepen young people’s understanding of artificial intelligence, Associate Professor Liu Wenjian, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau, was invited to visit Xinhua School on the afternoon of October 22. He participated in the “Local Experts Enter Campus” science popularization activity, organized by the Macau Association for the Advancement of Science and Technology and partially sponsored by the Macao Foundation, and delivered a special science popularization lecture titled “From Using AI to Self-Growth.” He shared cutting-edge AI knowledge with teachers and students at Xinhua School, stimulating students’ enthusiasm for exploring frontier science and technology.
During the lecture, Associate Professor Liu Wenjian guided students to understand the shift in learning mindsets in the AI era. Using real-life examples, he explained that AI is an intelligent tool that supports personal growth. He emphasized that students should not stop at merely using AI; they should also cultivate the ability to ask questions, critical thinking, and logical thinking, learn to collaborate with AI, and become new-era learners who make good use of technology and continuously improve themselves.
“Young people are the future of the motherland and the hope of the nation.” The Faculty of Data Science at City University of Macau will continue to fulfill its social responsibility by carrying out science popularization activities, promoting the dissemination of frontier scientific knowledge, building a bridge for exchange between universities and young people, and deepening cooperation with local secondary schools. By leveraging the scientific and technological development opportunities of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the Faculty will help cultivate future Macau talent with scientific literacy, shoulder the responsibility of passing on knowledge and nurturing talent, and help the motherland cultivate a new generation of reserve scientific and technological strength.
