On September 7, the Data Science Research Institute of our school sincerely invited Dr. Wan Biyu, chief scientist of the Smart City Joint Laboratory of the Urban Science Research Society of the Ministry of Construction, to give a lecture titled "Data Science Practice Taking Large-Scale Urban Data Simulation as an Example", and Hosted by Du Wencai, Dean of the Data Science Institute.
Taking the achievements and problems of modern urban development as a starting point, Dr. Wan discussed the relationship between smart cities and data science and then moved into the field of urban simulation research. By discussing the practical application of urban simulation systems, Dr. Wan introduced relevant policy standards for building urban virtual simulation systems. In addition, Dr. Wan introduced the development of smart city simulation prediction, proposed the construction of smart cities, and introduced in detail the importance, scientific basis, scientific organization and research hot spots of urban environment simulation using water, air, natural disasters, etc. as examples. During the lecture, Dr. Wan used dynamic pictures, video images and other data to demonstrate the urban large-scale wind, air, natural disaster environment analog computing system, urban air age simulation, water environment large-scale urban calculation simulation, and atmospheric pollutant diffusion large-scale urban Advanced knowledge sections such as computational simulation. Finally, Dr. Wan used the example of the integrated development of simulation technology with smart real estate, VR technology, urban management and other fields to discuss the future development trends in the subject field of simulation technology and gave a wonderful sharing on actual cases of smart cities.
During the lecture, Dr. Wan had a lively interactive atmosphere with his classmates. Dr. Wan enthusiastically answered questions from graduate students about the development direction of smart cities and core technologies of simulation technology systems.
After the lecture, Professor Cai Zhiming, Director of the Academic Affairs Office of City University of Macau, and Du Wencai, Dean of the Institute of Data Science, presented souvenirs to Dr. Wan Biyu.
