On the morning of June 24, 2019 (master's session) and afternoon (doctoral session), the Data Science Institute held a special lecture on "Data Science and Big Data, Smart City, Smart Education - Reuse and Sustainable Transformation of Modernist Architecture" at N104. This lecture invited Dr. Gonçalo Canto Moniz, a senior researcher at the Social Research Center of the University of Coimbra, as a guest speaker. Guests attending the event also included Distinguished Chair Professor Du Wencai, Dean of the Institute of Data Science at City University of Macau, Associate Professor Sonny Su, and Dr. Wan Biyu from the Smart City Joint Laboratory of the China Urban Science Research Society. About 20 people attended each of the two lectures. 

 

Dr. Gonçalo talks about the Erasmus Plus project he is responsible for "Reuse of Modernist Architecture-Sustainable Transformation" (2016-09-01 -2019-08-31). This project is a collaboration between five European universities and its research direction is to study urban sustainability. Sustainable development, activating urban vitality, realizing urban innovation; optimizing modern buildings and housing. 

 

The students were deeply interested in the subject content and benefited a lot; the students ended the session with a full load of knowledge.
