In the afternoon of 29th October 2024, the ‘Information Security Awareness Week Exhibition’, sponsored by the Macao Foundation, organised by the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau (MAPST), co-organised by the City University of Macau, and supported by the Macao Science Center, was grandly opened at the Conference Room of the Conference Centre of the Macao Science Center. The exhibition focuses on enhancing public awareness of information security, strengthening precautionary measures, and promoting exchanges and co-operation in related fields. At the opening ceremony, experts and guests from various fields gathered together to witness the launch of the event.
Associate Professor Liu Wenjian, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Data Science of the City University of Macau, said at the opening ceremony that with the rapid development of digital technology, information security has become an indispensable part of the development of the society, and stressed the importance of enhancing the public's understanding of information security and preventive awareness, and looked forward to this exhibition, so that the visitors can better understand the importance of information security, and to master the relevant preventive skills.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the exhibition was officiated by Associate Professor Wenjian Liu, Director of Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, and Associate Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, City University of Macau; Susanto Rahardja, Academician of the Singapore Academy of Engineering; Prof. Zhuo Ma, Distinguished Youth of Shaanxi Province and Huashan Scholar of the Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology; Ms. Ka Ian Ng Deputy Secretary General of the MAPST; Dr. Associate Professor Zuobin Ying, programme coordinator of the Doctoral Programme of the Faculty of Data Science of the City University of Macau, and Assistant Professor Hoi Io Kong, programme coordinator of the Undergraduate Programme of the Faculty of Data Science of the City University of Macau were the officiating guests of the ceremony, which marked the official opening of the exhibition.
The ‘Information Security Awareness Week Exhibition’ will last from 29 October to 1 November and is open to all students and citizens of Macao free of charge, while guests from overseas will be invited to visit the exhibition for exchanges. The exhibition is rich in content, covering a wide range of topics such as information security related laws, data security, cyber fraud, encryption technology, malicious code, etc. It also arranges exciting demonstrations, including simulation of cyber-attacks, analysis of malicious code, application of blockchain technology, etc. The exhibition not only provides professionals with the opportunity to learn more about information security, but also offers them a chance to learn about the latest information security technologies and how they are used. The exhibition not only provided a platform for professionals to exchange views, but also an opportunity for the general public and students to understand and learn about information security.
The opening of the ‘Information Security Awareness Week Exhibition’ signifies the further development of Macao in the field of information security, and the importance that the community attaches to the issue of information security.
