Zhou Wanlei, Vice Rector of City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, was recently invited to Hangzhou to attend the 12th Cyberspace Intelligent Search and Future Data Summit Forum. He participated in the roundtable forum to discuss how artificial intelligence can deal with the challenges of cyberspace security. In addition, in order to strengthen communication and exchanges with international universities, Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei attended the International Education Management Conference held in Qingdao earlier and shared City University of Macau’s attempts and achievements in developing cross-border education.
The 12th Cyberspace Intelligent Search and Future Data Summit Forum is hosted by the Chinese Information Society of China and the Future Data Forum Steering Committee. The theme of "Artificial Intelligence and Cyberspace Security", it is divided into two parts: the main forum and the Youth Forum. In response to the many challenges and countermeasures faced by artificial intelligence in solving cyberspace security issues, Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei presided over a roundtable forum and conducted analyzes with forum members from different perspectives such as technical level, data level, regulatory level, and governance level. During the discussion, it was pointed out that network security vulnerabilities, data security and other issues are threats to cyberspace security that cannot be ignored. It was recommended that government departments work with the industry to improve laws and regulations, strengthen supervision, improve data protection awareness and technical levels, and strengthen network security detection and emergency response capabilities. At the same time, Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei shared with forum members the research work he would most like to pursue if resources are sufficient, as well as his predictions for the development of artificial intelligence in five years. The International Education Management Conference is hosted by the Australian Education Management Group. The theme of this conference is "Cross-border Education: Building Trust in a Complex World". Vice Rector Zhou Wanlei’s speech was titled “City University of Macau’s Attempts in Developing Cross-Border Education”. The institutional advantages of "one country, two systems" provide unique conditions for the development of cross-border education; at the same time, Macao's education system integrates Chinese and Western education Educational concepts and resources provide rich course content and teaching methods for cross-border education. Against this favorable background, City University of Macau seizes the opportunity to vigorously develop big data technology and new humanities, social sciences and interdisciplinary subjects supported by it, and promote intelligent technology and services, financial technology, intelligent interactive design, digital health/smart wellness, etc. In the construction of cross-curricular courses, we also cooperate with overseas universities such as the University of Coimbra in Portugal, the University of China for Nationalities, and the University of Technology Sydney to develop advanced diploma courses and "N+1" education projects.
