The Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau has grandly launched the Honors class for the bachelor's degree program in the 2024/2025 academic year. Members will be selected from freshmen to junior students of the Bachelor of Computer Science Programme and the Bachelor of Intelligence Technology and Services Programme. The Honors Class creates an innovative talent training model. All outstanding students who enter this class will have the opportunity to receive one-on-one guidance from elite scholars from City University of Macau and Shenzhen X-Institute, as well as participate in academicians Zheng Weimin, Zheng Quanshui, Fang Binxing, and Zhou Wanlei. Cutting-edge classes by professors and other well-known experts and scholars. In addition, students will have the opportunity to intern at well-known technology companies and academic institutions such as Tencent, Baidu, Alibaba, and Huawei to cultivate innovative thinking and the ability to solve practical problems. 1. Innovative talent training model

 

Based on the 15-year training experience of Tsinghua University's QIAN Xuesen Class (Tsien Excellence in Engineering program), City University of Macau has joined hands with Shenzhen X-Institute, academicians, and a team of national and international experts to create a new model of innovative talent cultivation in the direction of data science. Well-known mentor team

 

Academician Zheng Weimin

 

He is an expert in the field of supercomputing, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, a professor and doctoral supervisor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University, and the director of the High-Performance Computing Institute. He has successively served as Chairman of the China Computer Federation, Director of the Academic Working Committee of the China Computer Federation, Chairman of the Awards Committee of the China Computer Federation, and other social positions.

 

Zheng Weimin is mainly engaged in research on high-performance computer architecture, parallel algorithms and systems, and network storage systems. He is a pioneer and leader in the field of network storage in China. He has researched scientific issues such as storage system scalability, reliability, and intensification. In terms of engineering technology, it has achieved creative results recognized by peers at China and abroad and promoted scientific and technological progress in the storage field. He has published 10 books including "Computer System Architecture" and "Fundamentals of Computer Applications" and published 560 papers in top international conferences and journals in the field. He has presided over the completion of more than 50 scientific research and engineering projects such as 973, 863, and Natural Science Foundation, and won 1 first prize, 2 second prizes of the National Science and Technology Progress Award, 1 second prize of the National Technology Invention Award, and the Ho Leung Ho Lee Science and Technology Progress Award, the first China Storage Lifetime Achievement Award, and 13 provincial and ministerial level science and technology progress awards.

Academician Zheng Quanshui

 

He is an expert in solid mechanics and micro-nano mechanics, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and a professor at the International Graduate School of Tsinghua University. He is currently the dean of Shenzhen X-Institute, vice director of the Teaching Committee of Tsinghua University, the founding chief professor of the Tsien Hsue-shen Mechanics Class at Tsinghua Academy, and the founding director of the Super Sliding Technology Institute of the Shenzhen Tsinghua University Research Institute; he once served as the director of the Department of Engineering Mechanics of Tsinghua University and the founder of Tsinghua University. Secretary-General of the Academic Committee, Editor-in-Chief of the Chinese Society of Mechanics’ flagship magazine Acta Mechanica Sinica and Acta Mechanica Sinica, Vice Chairman of the Chinese Society of Mechanics, etc.

 

Zheng Quanshui created a complete constitutive equation tensor function theory in the 1980s and 1990s, solving many classical mechanics problems that have long plagued the academic community. His theoretical research in this field has reached a rare depth and completeness. After 2000, he pioneered the structural super-slippery theory and the application of super-slippery microsystems, as well as the research and application of extreme hydrophobic science and technology and is committed to cultivating top innovative talents. He was funded by the National Science Fund for Outstanding Youth in 1995, won the China Young Scientist Award in 1996, was selected as the Yangtze River Scholar Distinguished Professor of the Ministry of Education in 2000, and won the second prize of the National Natural Science Award in 2004 and 2017 (the first winner). In 2018, he won the first prize for national teaching achievements and in 2021, he won the annual outstanding teaching award.

Academician Fang Binxing

 

Information network and information security expert, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, deputy to the 11th National People's Congress, and member of the Standing Committee of the 14th Beijing Municipal People's Congress. He is currently the deputy director of the Network and Information Security Committee of the National Informatization Expert Advisory Committee and a member of the Expert Committee of the State Internet Information Office. Member of the National 863 Plan “Twelfth Five-Year Plan” Expert Committee and Vice Chairman of the China Communications Society. He once served as president of Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, director and chief engineer of the National Computer Network and Information Security Management Center, director of the Internet Emergency Response Coordination Office of the Ministry of Information Industry, director of the Science and Technology Committee of the National Computer Network and Information Security Management Center, and chairman of the China Cyberspace Security Association.

 

His main research includes network security, information content security, parallel processing, Internet technology, etc. He first proposed the concept of building a national network and information security infrastructure and organized the development and implementation of the corresponding system. As the first completer, he has won 1 national prize and 2 second prizes for scientific and technological progress.

 

Professor Zhou Wanlei

 

He served as Dean of the Faculty of Computer Science at the University of Technology, Sydney, Chief Professor of Information Technology at Deakin University in Australia, and Vice Minister of the Department of Science, Engineering and Architecture (in charge of international scientific research cooperation). He served twice as Dean of the Faculty of Information Technology at Deakin University. He has also taught at the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China, Monash University in Australia, and the National University of Singapore; as a visiting professor, he has worked at the City University of Hong Kong, Aizu University in Japan, the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Nanyang Technological University in Singapore, and the National University of Singapore; and has worked at Hewlett-Packard Company in the United States.

 

Professor Zhou specializes in research directions such as network security and privacy protection, computer networks, and online teaching. In recent years, he has presided over and completed 13 Australian national research projects (ARC) and successfully trained 30 PhDs. Professor Zhou has published more than 400 academic papers in a series of international journals and international conferences, participated in the editing of 7 monographs, published 4 monographs, and served as the moderator of more than 30 international computer conferences.
