Teaching Workshop organised by the Faculty of Data Science



On February 12, 2025, at 3:00 PM, the Faculty of Data Science successfully held its second teaching workshop of the academic year in Conference Room T320. The event aimed to promote sharing experience among faculty members and enhance the overall teaching quality of the faculty. Attendees included Professor Wanlei Zhou, Vice President of City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science; Vice President Professor Wei Han, Director Yu Wu of the Academic Affairs Office; Vice Dean Professor Zhu Tianqing; Associate Vice Dean Professor Liu Wenjian; Associate Professor Ying Zuobin, Director of the Doctoral Program; Assistant Professor Weng Tak Kuok, Director of the Master's Program; Associate Professor Chia-Wei Chu, Director of the Bachelor's Programme in Computer Science; Assistant Professor Hoi Io Kong, Director of the Bachelor's Programme in Smart Technology and Services, and all faculty members of the faculty.

 

The event was chaired by Associate Dean Wenjian Liu of the Faculty of Data Science, with an opening speech delivered by Vice President Professor Wei Han of City University of Macau. Associate Dean Liu first welcomed the participants and briefly introduced the workshop agenda. In his speech, Vice President Han emphasized the importance of teaching innovation and course quality assurance, encouraging faculty members to actively explore new teaching methods. Following this, Director Yu Wu of the Academic Affairs Office provided an in-depth analysis of the faculty's teaching platform data and encouraged faculty members to actively improve the university's teaching systems.

 

During the event, Associate Dean Wenjian Liu detailed the administrative team and their responsibilities, expressing gratitude to the faculty members who contributed to the development of new courses and encouraging more teachers to participate in course preparation. Additionally, Program Directors Chia-Wei Chu and Hoi Io Kong shared their experiences in course management and teaching practices, while Zuobin Ying and Weng Tak Kuok offered unique insights into the application of teaching technologies and strategies to enhance student motivation. In the faculty sharing session, teachers  Qi Zhang and Jing Fengshi introduced their innovative teaching methods and student interaction strategies, providing valuable references for attendees.

 

The workshop was conducted in a lively atmosphere, with active participation from all faculty members. In his closing remarks, Vice President and Dean Professor Wanlei Zhou stated that the seminar not only provided a platform for faculty exchange but also laid a solid foundation for further improving the teaching quality of the Faculty of Data Science. After the event, faculty members expressed that they had gained significant insights and looked forward to more similar opportunities in the future. The Faculty of Data Science will continue to organize such events, exploring and practicing new teaching models to drive the continuous development of data science education.
