Opportunities in Spatial Computing and UltraWideBand Technologies


On January 11, 2024, the Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau invited Dr. Mei Ki Ieong, Chairman of Simbury Micro Technology Co., Ltd. and Founding President of the Hong Kong Semiconductor Nanotechnology Alliance, to give an academic lecture titled "Opportunities in Spatial Computing and Ultra WideBand Technologies" . 

 

As the chairman of Simbury Micro Technology Co., Ltd. and the founding president of the Hong Kong Semiconductor Nanotechnology Alliance, Dr. Ieong shared his outstanding leadership experience in large-scale and complex R&D projects, marketing and marketization. He has rich research and practical experience in the fields of electrical and electronic engineering and business administration. He has published more than 100 papers in the field of semiconductor technology and holds more than 150 patents. 

 

The theme of this lecture focuses on the fully integrated single-chip UWB solution, including radio frequency transceivers, baseband, protocols, software and other components, and has obtained FiRa certification. The seminar will delve into the various features of this solution and its applications in different fields such as people tracking, physical tracking, location positioning, and indoor navigation. It aims to reveal the huge potential of spatial computing and UWB technology to revolutionize various industries and create innovative opportunities. During the lecture, Dr. Ieong not only shared the latest research results, but also patiently answered the students' questions. The students all said that they benefited a lot from this lecture.
