The Faculty of Data Science successfully held the "2022/2023 Academic Year Graduate Student Information Session" at the Cultural Center Theater at 7:00 pm on September 7 this year. This briefing invited Professor Wanlei Zhou, Vice President of City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, and Associate Dean (Research) Professor Zhiming Cai, Associate Dean (Teaching and Learning) Associate Professor Wenjian Liu, Graduate Programme Coordinator Assistant Professor Zuobin Ying, Undergraduate Programme Coordinator Assistant Professor Chia-Wei Chu, Assistant Professor Xia Feng, Assistant Professor Chun Wang and Assistant Gengshen Wu Professors introduced the development and future prospects of the college, the overall situation of the Faculty's teaching projects, and the research directions of each tutor; the administrative teacher of the college also explained the important time points and graduation requirements for graduate students in faculty. 

Dean Professor Wanlei Zhou gave a comprehensive introduction to the faculty’s discipline construction, teaching staff, scientific research results, talent training and future ideas. He introduced that the Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau is based on high-quality, multi-level, and international talent training positioning, and has formed a multi-level talent training system for doctoral, master's, and bachelor's degrees. The Faculty of Data Science is based on data science and big data technology, with multiple disciplines including big data and smart tourism, big data and smart health, big data and smart cities, big data and smart finance, and smart education. Finally, Professor Wanlei Zhou emphasized the importance of academic ambition in choosing academic projects based on his early academic experience. 

Vice Dean Professor Zhiming Cai gave a detailed explanation on cross-domain data and ongoing projects. He hoped that the graduate students present could actively participate in relevant projects and make their own contributions to cross-border data issues. Associate Professor Wenjian Liu, Vice Dean, gave a detailed introduction to the goal orientation and training process of graduate students. He emphasized that the faculty’s goal for doctoral training is to cultivate high-level scholars with broad academic horizons, solid theoretical foundations, complete professional knowledge, proficiency in research methods, and ambitions to engage in data science research. 

Assistant Professor Zuobin Ying, Coordinator of the graduate Programme, gave an overall introduction to the teaching projects of the faculty and a brief explanation of his own research direction. He hopes to learn and grow with all students in the future. Assistant Professor Chia-Wei Chu, Coordinator of undergraduate Programme, gave a brief explanation of his research direction, and also introduced the background and research directions of Assistant Professor Hoi Io Kong and Assistant Professor Weng Tak Kuok respectively. In addition, Assistant Professor Xia Feng, Assistant Professor Chun Wang and Assistant Professor Gengshen Wu gave detailed introductions to graduate training from the perspectives of professionalism, comprehensive ability, and academic research. The administrative teacher gave a detailed explanation of the time schedule and graduation requirements for master's and doctoral students at university. Finally, the orientation session for new students ended successfully in a warm atmosphere of communication and interaction.
