Undergraduate BIT Programme People Management Class - Human Resource Management in Large Leisure Enterprises Sharing Seminar

The third year students of Bachelor of Intelligent Technology and Services held a special class on 2 December. Mr. Rafeal Ng, the lecturer of ‘People Management’, invited Mr. Ernest Wong, a human resource management practitioner, to share with the students about his work experience in human resource management and his experience in organizing various staff activities.

Ernest, who has more than 15 years of experience in human resources in large-scale integrated resorts, recently entered the university classroom and discussed with students the daily operation of human resources, how to enhance the sense of belonging and dedication among employees through large-scale staff activities, and how to organise various types of staff activities with innovative ideas to enhance the experience of employees.

The seminar firstly emphasized that employees are the most valuable assets of an enterprise. Through his vivid content, Ernest made students understand that the ability, motivation and creativity of employees are the real driving force for an enterprise to move forward. Therefore, how to effectively manage and stimulate the potential of employees is an issue that managers must think about.

At the same time, Ernest shared the interview and selection process with the students. He mentioned that the interview process should be flexible, not only examining the professional skills, but also focusing on the matching of responsibilities, problem solving ability and contingency wisdom, in order to select the right talents for the organization.

Ernest also combined theory and practice in his talk, for example, he elaborated on the application of SMART principles in performance goal setting and the importance of monitoring, feedback and evaluation. In terms of rewards and incentives, the seminar pointed out that they should be diversified, including career development opportunities, honors and recognition, in order to enhance employees' sense of belonging and loyalty.

Ernest shared the importance of good employee relations and communication, as well as the positive impact of diversity and inclusion on a company's culture. Through effective communication, an organization can understand the needs of its employees in a timely manner, resolve conflicts and create a harmonious working atmosphere.

This seminar gave the students a deep understanding of the importance of people management to the future development of enterprises, and also made them realize the importance of employees in the development of enterprises. It is hoped that through Ernest's sharing, the students can apply it to their work in the future, build up a good staff relationship, and contribute to the development of the enterprise and staff management.
