Professor Du Wencai and Professor Cai Zhiming of our Faculty, at the invitation of Chief Executive Ho Iat Seng, participated in the flag-raising ceremony and National Day reception held by the Macau SAR government on October 1 as members of the Macau Science and Technology Committee and the Macau Science and Technology Fund Trust Committee respectively, to celebrate the people of the Chinese nation. The 71st anniversary of the founding of the Republic. The flag-raising ceremony was held at Golden Lotus Square, and the National Day cocktail reception was held at the Commercial and Trade Cooperation Service Platform Complex between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries. 

 

The reception kicked off with the majestic national anthem. Ho Iat Seng, Chief Executive of the Macau SAR, delivered a speech. He said that over the past 71 years, the country has made a great leap from standing up, getting rich and becoming strong, and has achieved world-renowned development achievements. This year, our country will build a moderately prosperous society in all respects and achieve the first centenary goal; next year, our country will take advantage of the momentum and embark on a new journey of comprehensively building a modern socialist country and move towards the second centenary goal. He emphasized that the country has always been Macao’s strong backing. Ho Iat Seng particularly thanked the central government for its strong support to Macao’s anti-epidemic and economic and social recovery work, and once again expressed his high respect to frontline medical staff, fire fighters, police officers and all civil servants, as well as to those who actively cooperate with the government’s anti-epidemic work. People from all walks of life and residents express their sincere gratitude. Ho Iat Seng said that the Macao SAR government has always kept its mission in mind, conscientiously implemented and implemented the spirit and instructions of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches, and unswervingly practiced the principles of “one country, two systems”, “Macao people governing Macao” and a high degree of autonomy, focusing on “one center, one platform” , one base” development positioning, and continue to promote the construction of the special zone. 

 

At the reception, Professor Du and Professor Cai had extensive exchanges and discussions with people from all walks of life in Macao and provided suggestions for the development of information technology and education in the Macao SAR.
