Our students have won the National University Network Technology Challenge

The final defense and evaluation of the 2022 China Collegiate Computing Contest (C4) -Network Technology Challenge was held online a few days ago, and 219 teams from all over the country competed in four tracks. In the end, under the guidance of Assistant Professor Chu Chia-Wei, the coordinator of the undergraduate programme, the "The team of the undergraduate team of Data Science of City University of Macau", composed of Kong Lingyan and Hu Jinghao from the School of Data Science of City University of Macau, won the third prize in the national award for their entry "Intelligent Campus System based on Cloud Platform".

The finals of the challenge will be in the form of "online defense by contestants and online review by judges", and the participating teams will report, demonstrate and defend remotely through online means. Judges from Tsinghua University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University, Harbin Institute of Technology and other double first-class universities, as well as well-known enterprises such as Huawei, Future Network, Alibaba, ZTE, Sangfor, Cisco, Spirent, and Palo Alto Networks participated in the defense review.

China Collegiate Computing Contest (C4) is jointly founded by the Steering Committee for Computer Science Teaching in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Steering Committee for Software Engineering in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, the Teaching Steering Committee for Computer Courses in Colleges and Universities of the Ministry of Education, and the National Computer Education Research Association of Colleges and Universities. The Network Technology Challenge is one of the six major competitions of C4, with the purpose of "adapting to new changes, stimulating innovation, selecting talents, and helping the industry", with the purpose of meeting the needs of economic and social talents, promoting the cultivation of new engineering talents and curriculum system reform of related majors, and promoting the industrial transformation and business incubation of students' scientific and technological innovation achievements. This year's competition adopts the form of work competition, and four competitions are set up in the two major tracks of innovation and creativity (category A) and technical research (category B), attracting a total of 2,396 teams from 371 colleges and universities across the country to participate, and 4 special prizes, 17 first prizes, 66 second prizes, and 131 third prizes were awarded.

Kong Lingyan and Hu Jinghao have gone through the qualifying rounds, trials and finals since April this year. In the A competition, as the only team in the Macao division, they also won the first prize in the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan division of the competition.

Speech:

Faculty of Data Science, Kong Lingyan:

I learned a lot from participating in this C4 Challenge. The IoT project "Smart Campus System Based on Cloud Platform", which I designed with Mr. Chu Chia-Wei and Mr. Hu Jinghao, uses CityU as the background to provide various smart devices through packet tracer, and connects to the OneNET cloud platform for cloud platform control, and also designs IoT devices and functions suitable for City University of Macau. The competition lasted more than five months, we submitted three versions of the work; in order to make the work more perfect, I re-designed the smart campus system to obtain computer software copyright and also obtained the software copyright of the National Copyright Administration of China. With the assistance of Dr.Chu and the cooperation of my teammate Hu, I successfully passed the answer as the respondent of the report and finally won the third prize in the country. I hope that the technology I have learned can be applied to the City University of Macau campus system, so that students and teachers can have greater convenience.

Faculty of Data Science, Hu Jinghao:

I am honored to be able to participate in the China University Computer Contest - Network Technology Challenge, and I would like to thank the school for providing me with the opportunity to express myself, and I would also like to thank the instructors for their careful guidance and kind care, as well as the efforts of our teammates. Through this competition, I learned a lot of computers knowledge and also realized the importance of good habits such as rigor and seriousness to success, because every detail will affect the final success or failure, which is well reflected in computer science. This competition has greatly improved my professional knowledge, and I hope to achieve better results in the future and meet future challenges with a better attitude.

Brief introduction of the award-winning works:

Intelligent Campus System based on Cloud Platform

With the rapid development of computer networks, the Internet of Things and artificial intelligence technology, smart life has long been integrated into the campus. Campus management pays more attention to the convenience of management, and students' campus life is more comfortable and safer. By combining with IoT technology, smart devices can enable dynamic connectivity of otherwise independent devices, allowing users to achieve remote control. With new technologies such as network, cloud platform technology, and big data analysis as the core, the smart campus provides a comprehensive environmental perception, intelligence, data, networking, and collaborative integrated teaching, scientific research, management, and life services.
