Sponsored by the Macao Foundation, organised by the Association for Promotion of Science and Technology of Macau, co-organised by the City University of Macau and supported by the Macao Science Center, the ‘Information Security Awareness Week Exhibition’ was successfully held from 29th October to 1st November 2024 at the convention hall of the Conference Centre of the Macao Science Center, and has come to a successful end. The four-day exhibition attracted more than 2,000 visitors from Macau society.

Rich content of the exhibition focuses on the hotspots of information security
The exhibition focused on a number of core themes in the field of information security, with 10 exhibits covering information security technology overview, identity identification technology, encryption technology, information security-related laws, AI security, data protection technology, malicious code analysis, principles of large language models and security issues, cyber fraud prevention, and other information security-related theories and technologies.
The exhibition also featured the GenAI fraud topic, which demonstrated to visitors the risks of AI technology being exploited by lawbreakers and provided guidance on how to identify and prevent potential cyber fraud. With the accelerated digitalization of Macao and the frequent occurrence of fraud cases, this topic is of particular relevance.

Interaction and Learning: Student Participation to Enhance Security Awareness for All
Professional instructors were on hand to introduce the technology and answer questions from visitors. In particular, teachers and students from local schools actively participated in the live demonstrations and presentations, introducing five sets of information security-related attack and defense techniques in an easy-to-understand manner, with the aim of enhancing the awareness of information security protection. At the same time, the demonstration also showed the actual operation methods and invited visitors to participate in the demonstration interactively, which further enhanced the public's understanding and awareness of information security.
The demonstrations included Wi-Fi password cracking, mobile phone remote monitoring, phishing emails and websites, real-time AI face and voice change, keyboard input monitoring, blockchain cross-link communication and deployment of Stable Diffusion, etc., which showed the security threats we are facing and the means of protection that can be put into practice in our daily lives.
The Relationship between Digitalization and Information Security in Macao
As Macao society accelerates its digital transformation, especially in the areas of smart city, e-payment and big data application, the importance of information security is becoming more and more obvious. In recent years, the Macao SAR Government has been vigorously promoting the construction of information infrastructure and digital transformation, and at the same time strengthening the supervision and protection of network security. The exhibition not only raised the security awareness of the public, but also promoted the overall security protection capability of Macao in the digital era.
