The Faculty of Data Science organized students to visit the "Discovery and Heart Nourishing Hall" themed digital experience hall at the Macau Science Museum

On September 28, 2024, the Faculty of Data Science at the City University of Macau organized students to visit the “Discover the Hall of Mental Cultivation” Digital Experience Exhibition at the Macau Science Center Exhibition Center.

The “Discover the Hall of Mental Cultivation” Digital Experience Exhibition is an exhibition that combines traditional culture and modern technology. Through digital technology and interactive experience, the audience can gain a deeper understanding of the history, architectural features, and importance of the Hall of Mental Cultivation in the Qing Dynasty imperial palace. Nowadays, various VR devices allow students to immerse themselves in the historical scenes of the Hall of Mental Cultivation, experience the daily life of the emperor, and display precious cultural relics inside the Hall of Mental Cultivation. Through high-definition imaging and 3D reconstruction, the audience can better appreciate and understand it.

Subsequently, the students attended Professor Wang Yunli's lecture. Professor Wang is a research curator at the Palace Museum, engaged in the protection, restoration, and research of organic cultural relics for thirty years. Professor Wang introduced scientific identification and analysis related to cultural relics in his lecture, as well as how to better understand the internal structure, materials, and production techniques of ancient cultural relics through modern scientific scanning technology. She discussed the importance of cultural relic protection and based on his thirty years of professional experience, introduced how to identify and restore cultural relics through scientific means. Her lecture will provide participants with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the stories behind cultural relics, inspiring students' attention and enthusiasm for cultural heritage protection.

This activity enhances students' understanding of cultural heritage protection and provides them with opportunities to directly communicate with experts, promoting the inheritance and protection of cultural heritage.
