【Innovative Talent Cultivation】 The Honor Class of University of Macau visited multiple research and education institutions and enterprises in Shenzhen

In order to further promote in-depth cooperation with major scientific research and education institutions and enterprises in Shenzhen in talent cultivation, scientific and technological innovation and other fields, a delegation of 30 students from the Honorary Class of City University of Macau recently visited Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced TechnologyChinese Academy of Sciences, Shenzhen X-Institute and BGI Genomics, led by Sun Pei, Executive Deputy Director of the Honorary Class, Executive Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Health and Wellness, Zhu Tianqing, Head of the Honorary Class, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, and Jin Lixian, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences. Zheng Quanshui, an academician of the CAS Member, communicated cordially with the students in the Honor class, which helped stimulate their innovative consciousness and ability to solve practical problems.

Academician Zheng Quanshui, founder and dean of X-Institute, brought a unique discussion with teachers and students around the theme of "In the era of artificial intelligence, do we need generalists or specialists more?" Academician Zheng shared his unique insights on future education trends with his profound academic background and forward-looking vision, inspiring deep thinking among the teachers and students present. Honorary class leaders and teachers had in-depth exchanges with representatives of Shenzhen X-Institute teachers, and both sides expressed their intention to fully utilize their respective advantageous resources to jointly cultivate high-end applied data science talents with innovative consciousness and practical problem-solving ability.

The honor class teachers and students subsequently visited universities and research institutions such as Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology Chinese Academy of Sciences, and BGI Genomics. Under the leadership of Vice Rector of City University of Macau, Zhou Wanlei, we visited the new campus and Shuguang College of Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, gaining a deep understanding of its development history, unique educational philosophy, and talent cultivation model, and experiencing the strong research atmosphere firsthand. Afterwards, the teachers and students had discussions with outstanding professors Wu Hao and Assistant Professor Li Yaqiao from the Faculty of Computer Science and Control Engineering to learn more about topics such as exploring, exploring ways of learning, and finding research directions.

The Honor class also visited BGI Genomics to learn about its development history, research achievements, and future plans. BGI Genomics is renowned worldwide for its research and application in the field of genetic science. The teachers and students also visited the Lauterbur Biomedical Imaging Research Center, which is dedicated to the research and development of high-resolution and multimodal high-end medical imaging technology and equipment, as well as the development of innovative medical devices such as medical robots and focuses on the integration of low-cost health and rehabilitation engineering technology. This visit not only broadened the students' horizons but also planted the ideal seeds for them to enter the high-tech field in the future.

This Shenzhen exchange delegation trip is a valuable experience for me to inspire wisdom and broaden my horizons. Firstly, we visited Shenzhen X-Institute and through experiencing multiple research laboratories, I deeply felt the innovative educational philosophy and strong academic atmosphere here. Subsequently, Shenzhen Advanced Technology Research Institute showcased the deep integration of technology and industry, and its outstanding scientific research achievements greatly inspired me. The next day's visit to BGI Genomics gave me a deeper understanding of the progress and potential of biotechnology. At the last exchange venue, Shenzhen University of Technology demonstrated a new direction of educational reform with its new research-oriented university training model. These institutions have not only achieved significant achievements in scientific research but also provided a favorable environment and resources for cultivating future innovative talents. For me, a novice who has just entered the field of scientific research, these experiences not only guide me in the right direction but also make me look forward to the future development of technology and education.

In this exchange, I gained a deep understanding of many cutting-edge technological fields, especially the application of biological genetic testing technology and artificial intelligence. At Shenzhen Zero One College, I appreciated the innovative projects of students in the fields of artificial intelligence and big data, and deeply felt the infinite creativity and potential of the younger generation. At BGI Genomics, I have learned about the latest developments in genomics, and my contribution to precision medicine has particularly impressed me.

This exchange not only broadened my horizons, but also strengthened my determination to devote myself to technological innovation. The technological atmosphere and resource allocation in Shenzhen have left a deep impression on me. I look forward to participating in these exciting research projects in the future and contributing my own strength to the development of society.

I have gained a lot from this study tour. The innovative atmosphere of X-Institute is strong, and the unique educational model allows us to experience the charm of the collision of technology and creativity. It also makes me understand that only by daring to break through conventions can we explore new horizons. The next day's visit to BGI Genomics showcased the magic and greatness of life sciences. "Genetic technology for the benefit of humanity" is the mission of BGI Genomics and the common mission of all researchers.

In the afternoon, we accompanied the professors to Shenzhen University of Advanced Technology, where modern facilities, beautiful campus environment, and abundant faculty all reflect the value of education. This visit has broadened our horizons, allowing us to deeply experience the charm of innovation, technology, and education, and also inspiring us to continue exploring and striving in the future. As Academician Zheng Quanshui once said, "Youth means you still have dreams and the courage to practice and persevere." I firmly believe that although the road ahead is long, it is also bright and brilliant.
