The City University of Macau, in collaboration with the First Affiliated Hospital of Shandong First Medical University and Shandong University of Political Science and Law, has published its latest achievement "An Enhanced Vision Transformer Model in Digital Twins Powered Internet of Medical Things for Pneumonia a Diagnosis" in the top international academic journal "IEEE Journal on Selected Areas in Communications" (a top tier journal in the 1st district of the Chinese Academy of Sciences with an impact factor of 16.4) after two and a half years.
This study proposes an intelligent pneumonia diagnosis platform based on medical IoT and digital twin technology. Researchers have designed an enhanced visual Transformer model, EVTM, to effectively capture remote dependencies in images of lung digital twins. Meanwhile, utilizing the variational autoencoder model to augment the image data volume meets the training requirements of the model. The experimental results indicate that the model can effectively improve the accuracy of pneumonia diagnosis.
This academic collaboration not only demonstrates the research strength of our university and Shandong First Medical University in the interdisciplinary field of computer science but also serves as a model of resource integration and complementary advantages between the two universities. The successful publication of this paper marks an important international recognition of the Faculty of Data Science in the field of intelligent diagnosis of medical images and provides valuable reference and inspiration for global medical research.
