The undergraduate program in Data Science and Big Data Technology is a joint educational initiative approved by the Ministry of Education. Co-hosted by Minzu University of China and City University of Macau, it officially commenced in 2023 and has now entered its third year, with the student and faculty members reaching over 300 members. The program will be administered by the Hainan International College of Minzu University of China during the first, second, and fourth academic years, providing the necessary setting and resources for Professor Qi Zhang to conduct social practice guidance. This collaborative mechanism also serves as a key demonstration of the effectiveness of the joint educational initiative between the two institutions.
This commendation event represents a significant initiative by the pilot zone to deepen the establishment of shared courses and advance educational innovation. It serves both as recognition of outstanding educators' practical teaching efforts and as a showcase of achievements under the “Five Interactions and One Sharing” international education model. The shared course system, built upon the “Big Sharing + Small College” mechanism, breaks down inter-institutional and disciplinary boundaries to fully integrate high-quality educational resources from both China and abroad.Teacher Qi Zhang's practical guidance exemplifies cross-school resource integration under this system.
Assistant Professor Qi Zhang stated that this recognition affirms his educational practice and reflects the Lingshui Pilot Zone's commitment to experiential learning and faculty development. During his involvement in the joint education program, he witnessed students bridge the gap between theory and application through hands-on training—an achievement made possible by the high-quality resources provided by the park.
In the future, he will embrace his responsibility as an educator to enhance practical teaching and drive reform and innovation. By strengthening teacher-student interaction and refining guidance programs, he will help students elevate their professional competencies. Simultaneously, he will actively promote collaborative education between the university and local communities, participate in system optimization, and cultivate high-caliber applied talents for joint educational initiatives.
