AIGC and ChatGPT at the Singularity Moment


On March 31, 2023, the Faculty of Data Science invited Vice Dean Wenjian Liu to share his latest research on AIGC and ChatGPT. The workshop attracted more than a hundred teachers and students to participate both online and offline. Vice Dean Liu shared three aspects: the overall overview of AIGC, the application of AI painting, the development history of ChatGPT and the key technologies behind it. 

 

During the process, Vice Dean Liu first summarized the characteristics of AIGC development and its future prospects from the three levels of artificial intelligence development and analyzed the possible impact of AIGC development on the education, gaming, media and other industries from an industrial perspective. influence. Taking the images generated by Midjourney as an example, he discussed the advantages and disadvantages of AI painting with the students. Subsequently, the development history of ChatGPT developed by OpenAI was introduced, and the reasons for the comprehensive explosion of AIGC applications and the key technologies and models behind ChatGPT were analyzed at the level of underlying technology accumulation. At the end of the workshop, Associate Professor Liu Wenjian and Assistant Professor Zuobin Ying, Coordinator of postgraduate Programme, issued certificates to the Guangzhou University students who came to the school for academic exchanges and took photos with them. 

 

By holding this special workshop, on the one hand, it meets the needs of teachers and students to understand the hot issues at the forefront of the world's science and technology and also lays a solid foundation for students' subsequent academic research in the field of artificial intelligence. Our school will continue to actively carry out diversified professional academic lectures to enhance the academic ability of graduate students.
