On April 28, 2023, the Faculty of Data Science held an academic lecture titled "Uncovering Deep Learning: Focusing on ChatGPT" at the Student Activity Center in L105, Sino-Portuguese Building. 

 

This lecture invited Professor Yida Xu from the Department of Mathematics of Hong Kong Baptist University as the keynote speaker. Professor Xu first introduced the history of AI, its development overview in recent years, and the relevant knowledge of neural networks in early deep learning. Then some techniques currently used in deep learning and their applications are introduced. Finally, from the perspective of natural language processing, the application of deep learning in ChatGPT was introduced, and the basic concepts of deep learning and related processing applications were introduced in a simple and easy-to-understand manner, so that students participating in the lecture had a better understanding of deep learning technology. 

 

This lecture was hosted by Professor Wanlei Zhou, Vice Rector of City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science. Associate Professor Wenjian Liu, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Data Science, and Assistant Professor Chia-Wei Chu, Programme Coordinator of the Faculty of Data Science, also participated in the above activities.
