On the afternoon of September 3, 2024, the Faculty of Data Science of City University of Macau held an academic lecture titled "Talk about how to do research and write papers" in L305, inviting Academician Xuemin Shen from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the University of Waterloo in Canada as the main speaker. It was hosted by Professor Wanlei Zhou, Vice President of City University of Macau and Dean of the Faculty of Data Science. 

 

Professor Shen is an internationally renowned scholar in the field of communication networks, focusing on wireless communication networks, especially key technology research on the Internet of Vehicles. He innovatively proposed the theory and technology of Internet of Vehicles media access, broke through the key challenges of Internet of Vehicles security and privacy protection, and promoted the development and industrial application of related technologies. 

 

In his speech, Professor Shen pointed out that conducting research and writing a paper is a systematic process that requires careful planning and execution. A clear structure should be followed when writing to ensure concise language and accurate citation of literature. Pay attention to peer review feedback during the revision and editing stages and strictly follow the journal submission guidelines. After completion, student should pay attention to the development of the field in order to continue to improve the quality of research and academic contributions. 

 

This academic lecture provided students with an in-depth understanding of the effective process of researching and writing papers, stimulating their research interests and thinking about the future.
