On August 28, 2019, doctoral students majoring in data science from our school visited the Macau Science Center collectively.
During this period, the staff of the Science Museum showed the students the backstage control room of its observatory. The planetarium is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the world's highest resolution three-dimensional planetarium. The museum is equipped with a tilted hemispherical screen with a diameter of approximately 15.24 meters. It is equipped with a set of 12 high-resolution digital projectors each with a resolution of 4,096 by 2,048 pixels. It can play ultra-high-definition dome programs with a maximum resolution of 8,000 by 8,000 pixels. and three-dimensional dome programs. The planetarium has 127 seats and 4 seats for wheelchair users, all equipped with interactive control buttons. The huge database and projection effects set up in the museum allow the audience to freely travel among the stars in the universe. When the audience wears special glasses, they can also see the three-dimensional images projected on the giant dome screen. This set of equipment can also project digital dome videos, turning the planetarium in the Science Museum into a multi-functional dome theater.
This year marks the 20th anniversary of Macao’s return to China and the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the Macao Science Center, so this visit is of great significance. The themes of the 12 long-term exhibition halls visited include space science, children's playground, children's science, navigation science, robotics, acoustics, physical mechanics, genetics, environmental protection, sports health, sports competition, and the electricity and electromagnetics hall. The remaining two are special exhibition halls that are changed from time to time. The exhibition features interactive exhibits that are both informative, scientific and interesting, allowing students to enjoy the fun of exploring science through hands-on activities.
